Princess & Shorty ( My Review) * Spoilers*

Was so looking forward to this film. I liked that they finally brought black films back to the big screen. I miss those days.
The film starts off with the tough Queen domineering Slim. He seems not to be headed to getting laid which sucks. Then somehow they’re in the car and get profiled as usually black people do. Oddly Queen is a lawyer so she tries to defend herself, slim, and their rights. The cop abuses them. Slim tries to avoid danger by complying. The cop shoots Queen and slim retaliates by attacking the cop. Had he just ignored the situation or turned himself in he would’ve been alive. Getting some pussy aint worth dying for. Especially a girl who you dont know if she’s going to put out and is ordering you around. But he wasnt clearly thinking and who would in such a dangerous situation. They flee and rightly so because who’d want to spend the rest of their lives in jail or get hung?
The next thing the car runs out of gas. Cause they are so stressed. Yea as that wasn’t important. Then someone helps them who happens to be the nicest sheriff in the world. Yea right! He suspected they were suspicious but being a cop didnt do nothing. Then when he was confirmed he politely turns to them and then turns himself in. When he safely could’ve called backup from the gas station. Then easily surrenders to them. Yea, okay.
They decide to go the craziest criminal uncle in the world. Who has two fine ass whores as his girls( big ups for hiring a trans actress). They loyally worship him as he pimps them and beats them. They take in queen and slim with open arms. Here they decide to redo Queen’s look which is mostly cutting her hair. Stripping her down to look more African. There is no true romance between slim and queen except for the bond of the incident. They hook up. Everybody in the black community knows who they are but accepts them with open arms and nobody snitches. Not even for a load of cash. Later on that.
Slim has zero direction and just goes by what’s up in the air lead by Queen. Queen seems to be the only one with realism though not entirely. They decide to go to cuba on a whim as if Cuba will shelter them and be good to them. Uncle seems to make them a plan from a lot of unknown former comrades. There is a lot of moments of bliss but no realism. As when they are riding in the road. Very feminine view. Slim is never masculine which goes well with Queen who is very bossy and entitled. There is a good scene when Slim is trying to rob a gas station but the cashier straight up tells him you dont scare me. You dont look like robber and asks for gun for full gas which Slim abnormally gives into. Though I personally liked this about the film and am glad he didn’t just kill the cashier. You cant help again that this is a contrast with interracial society where blacks give in to the white goofys demands take their guns and shoot them. As it was almost implied.
The car breaks down. Now this is an important part of the film. They blow their entire fortune on the repair? Money well spent? Somehow they dont figure another plan( they are wanted they could’ve just stole a car) The cops are their just waiting for slims call. Whenever he feels like it. Mechanic knows who they are at first glance and doesn’t care and doesn’t offer a brother in need a discount. Then lets them bully him and even introduces them to his son though he doesn’t agree with them. The son gets inspires and does a terrible thing. He illogically shoots at a good black cop who was being kind to him. A note that blacks kill blacks senselessly. And somehow queen and slim are referenced because they had contact with him but didnt point him in the right direction rather wrong. This was the worst point of the movie and I really didnt like this.
They are being wanted by the entire country but they keep stopping by for a million reasons on the road without true fear of life.
The sex scene was hard to watch. There was no real true love. Just like this lead us here so we have to do it. Then in the middle of the boy shooting the cop. A sort of allegory about violence and reproduction in the black community and how they feed off each other. But not in an artistic or real sense.
They then arrive at the first uncle’s friends house which is hard to watch as the married couple seem to be at odds about the situation. They are then quickly tipped at the locations to which they hide brilliantly but then not so. They lacked impatience or more like we have to keep the story going and risk coming out of hide out for no reason and then jump two stories where slims looks stuntmened and Queen looks terrible. It has been pointed out that throughout Queen takes all the beatings. Which is true even though she is the presence leader. Then some colored cop oddly gives them a free pass without nobody noticing right in front if their eyes and mostly under the guise of racist bullying cops.
