Why the low rating?
I liked this movie.
shareThere were a lot of characters who weren't developed. Their story was introduced without a purpose which caused the movie to feel flat. Examples: teenagers, mortician, farmer, the gas station attendant and the hardware store owner.
They were introduced without development.
Thank You!!!
This could have been such great fun if it had a focus.
I did like how the teenager plot played out
That felt most realistic. I didn't need development from a group of kids driving through town.
I don't want to give away spoilers...
but don't even get me started with the mortician.
I knew her character the minute she opened her mouth,
So i thought maybe she had something to do with it all, but nope.
what are you talking about? what more character development do you need? i thought this is better than most zombie movies because instead of just throwing characters into a zombie apocalypse right away they took their time developing the characters and showing them do things to make you know and care about the characters before getting into the zombie apocalypse. it took 45 minutes before they got to the zombies really killing people. and that is this film's main strength is getting to know these unusual, funny, realistic, unique, and lovable characters.
shareI feel we we're writing about two different movies.
My comment is about the movie the dead don't die.
Are you on the right message board?
purpose? what zombie comedies develop purpose for the characters in a zombie comedy? and the main characters all had purpose, bill murray's, tilda swinton's adam driver's, chole sevigny's, and tom waite's.
i have watched about 20 zombie movies, i've watched all the big ones everyone knows about except shaun of the dead and 28 days later and this the first zombie comedy other than reanimator that i liked because the story was original, the characters were lovable and the main characters were developed, the pacing was great, there were great developments in the plot, cool and creative in jokes, really good humor, and a fresh approach to a zombie movie which is to develop the main characters for 45 minutes before the zombie apocalypse.
Im going to politely disagree. The Teens, store owner, farmer frank, chole Sevigny etc. didn't matter. If they weren't introduced, the movie wouldn't change. Tom Waits didn't add to the plot, he was used to give a lame monologue at the end.
If you look at Shaun of the dead, each Character grows and changes with the plot. The same goes with Romero's first three Living dead films. Return of the living dead was another film where you see each character add to the plot. This one didn't work for me. Im glad you loved it.
although I will say, one of the funniest line in the movie, that made me laugh after being bored for a while...
SPOILER
when Chole's character saw her zombied grandma and ran out of the cop car to be with her.
"I love you grandma" that was just so stupid, I honestly laughed for like a minute after that scene.
Most of them weren't developed though. The teens were pointless, if they wanted to kill Selena Gomez they could have saved all that footage and shown her get eaten but we never even saw how they met their end...
It was like an hour to tell us this place is in the middle of nowhere. There was nothing original about the plot or lovable about them.
There were some gags which I found flat, so much unexplained.
The character basically killed themselves. These were super slow zombies, for most of them it took effort to actually die. They could literally have walked out of that town but instead they walk into mobs of them... They could have locked themselves into the jail cells if they were too lazy.
right! right! wtf!!!!! this is maybe the best zombie comedy of all time so wtf!? it should be at at least, at least 8.2. this film is so great that i almost can't think of how it could be a better film. the only thing i can think of is bill murray should have been a lot funnier.
shareBetter than Shaun of the Dead?!? Blasphemy!
shareThey are dead
shareNo story, no acting, no fun, no nothing. Only the cast save this from being a 1, 2/10.
