wait, what?.. (spoilers ahead)

1) Whose was the last face that El Cuco turned into? Was it just random or was it supposed to be someone recognizable? I rewatched the scene twice and couldn't make it out. Kinda looked like Sablo to me.

2) Who were the two young guys Ralph saw in the cave, and why was he the only one who saw them?
ETA: just finished watching the writer/producer interviews, and they said he saw his son, so I am guessing the second guy is Frankie Peterson's brother?

3) The two men with torches in a pick-up truck when Ralph left the Cecil, TN police station - what was that supposed to be?

4) Holly asking "Who is Terry?" in the cave - uhm, WHAT?? That totally freaked me out in the moment! But what was that supposed to mean, and why did Ralph let it go unnoticed?

5) So Holly is scratched now - so many questions about that. How did Holly not notice it before, and why was she so nonchalant about it? What does it mean exactly now that El Cuco is dead? IS he dead? Or is she supposed to somehow become El Cuco now?..

And I suppose this all means that there might be a continuation?

I also just noticed in the interviews that in the final scene between Holly and Ralph her arms were bare, which means he would have seen the scratch, too. I am perplexed by how no one has noticed.

Oh man that sounds horrible....
The holly character really brought down the vibe of the show.
Just completely boring and monotone

1) That last face that we saw being transformed looked like it was that woman Maria Coneles (who was in jail) and was accused of killing that one little boy.

4) I was confused about that too because Ralph didn't react or didn't hear her maybe?. I wondered why did she say, who is Terry? Then I simply thought I misheard her...

reply

No, there was an older man's face after Maria Caneles.

You didn't mishear, she did say "Who's Terry?" I always watch everything with subtitles.

reply

Hmmmm, I could have sworn that the last face shown was that of the lady in prison...

Okay so I didn't mishear that...good to know...still don't understand why she said that...

reply

Watch that scene again, there were what looked to me like two more (men's) faces after Maria. It definitely didn't end with her.

reply

Yes, I will give it another viewing for sure!

Had the same questions... Frankly the series started out very interesting and as it progressed became worse before what was one of the worst conclusions I've seen in a long time. Did we ever see his son in previous episodes? I too was confused by the two boys in the cave... and the El Cuco face changing just made no sense at all, why would it be wasting its dwindling energy going back through old faces, wouldn't it have been more likely to revert directly back to its original form? Logic seemed to be thrown out the window at the end. Overall the show went from one I would have recommend to someone to one that I wouldn't and it is mostly because of the piss poor ending.

reply

Yes, we saw his son talking to Ralph. I believe he went into his son's bedroom and his son appeared and told him to let him go.

As for El Cuco changing it's face changing from person to person, I think they were attempting to show us that it was it was regressing back to where it started so from what we knew it started out with that lady who was in jail (Maria Coneles) because she was accused of killing those a seven year old boy. Her family member is the one who brought Holly back to her place and told her about El Cuco and the beliefs about it...

reply

There was a completely different face after Maria Caneles, if not two faces.

Why would Maria have been the first one anyway - he's been doing it since the beginning of time.

reply

Precisely... if it was just regressing back to where it started shouldn't it have gone back to cavemen? The ending just seemed sloppy and didn't tie up the story very well at all.

reply

Yes this thing has been doing it for a long time but Maria I think was the one that Holly had initially traced the crimes back to even though there was undoubtedly more. That is to say didn't Holly's investigations only go as far back as Maria? So "they" were showing us all of the people that we had been introduced to throughout the story...

reply

No, there was definitely a different face after Maria, they were just showing them in reverse order of transformation.

reply

I'll have to watch it again....

1. The last face I think was the old-age-home attendant. At the end, in the 'Making Of" short, the director said Cuko/Coco went through the faces Ralph knew about as a 'fuck you" to Ralph because he was too weak to block the rock.
2. one was Ralph's son. i think the other was Frankie Peterson. The director said they blocked the way to tell Ralph to kill Cuko/Coco.
3. i wondered about that, too. Maybe they were going back to get the bodies?
4. i wondered about that too.
5. I didn't see her getting scratched. Her last bathroom scene was so badly lighted i couldn't tell if she had boils on the back of her neck or not.
6. There supposedly is a Season 2 but I read that HBO passed.
