How did the boy's mother die? From what?

I even rewatched that scene with the baseball bat to see if I missed anything, and it doesn't look like I did.

She dies because of a heart attack. When she starts smashing her house with a baseball bat. She den gets a heart attack.

After we see the son (the one that shoots Terry Maitland) and the father (the one that hangs himself) at the hospital while getting the news and brake.
