Why were they Latino?

Jennifer Garner isn't Latino in real life. I found it a weird casting for her.

Or are they meant to be "interracial?"

reply

the children are obviously mixed

do you think it's the 1940's still?

reply

The actors themselves aren’t all mixed, which leads us to believe that not all of her children in this movie were actually her kids. Either adopted or stolen is my guess.

reply

were not talking about the actors in the real life we are talking about the characters. The father is Latino and the mother is white, thus the children are mixed with both. Pretty simple stuff.

If it doesn’t matter who the actors are in real life then you could have them all be black by your logic.

But the OP is right, this is sort of a plot hole. The oldest daughter isn’t a mixed white in real life, so do we really have to pretend that it’s Jennifer Garner’s daughter? These children can’t all be possibly hers.
