Do conservatives like this musical?
Title.
shareNope! You need to be a card carrying Commie.
shareI don't like it because it is revisionist made-up "history".
I don't like it because a lot of very famous and important men who happened to be white are portrayed by people of color.
I don't like it because hip-hop is artistically vacuous.
I don't like it because the entire thing is basically a gimmick.
I don't like it because the left reacts to it as if it's the culmination and zenith of the history of musical theater and can't be criticized.
The difference between me and leftists is that I would be happy to calmly discuss "Hamilton" like an adult, while most leftists' heads would explode if I stated my position and they would just shout me down and cancel me.
The nice thing about it is that I don't really care what they think.
I know plenty of southern conservatives that very much enjoy this.
shareSeveral Conservative radio talk show hosts have expressed their enjoyment of it (the filmed version which lacks the actor whom ruined a performance over politics). They don't like the historic purported inaccuracies but understand how that happens with nearly all entertainment vehicles as they must distill the info into a few hours.
I have trouble getting past the music style. It grates me.
Conservative and really enjoyed it. Expected it to be much more left leaning but it wasn’t. Clearly idolized Alexander Hamilton and most others minus King George.
However when I saw it, at the end of the play the actors asked for donations to various causes and special interests for swag which seemed tacky given the price of the ticket wasn’t cheap.
