My wife and I have loved Star Wars from the beginning.
However, since Disney fancies itself as a corporate SJW, that has nothing to do with providing family-centered entertainment, I canceled our Disney + subscription about 2 months ago and we won't be watching Obi-Woke Kenobi.
From reading the posts here, looks like we won't be missing much.
LOL...nope, not racist...but I'm not a fan of the overt agenda embracing and promoting LGBTQUFABC++ (or whatever the current acronym is)...in the content of what is supposed to be a family-oriented entertainment business.
I like my entertainment providers to do just that - entertain - not slam a social agenda down my throat.
I have a problem with Disney overall and the way they have turned themselves into a corporate SJW rather than concentrating on providing family-worthy entertainment, as they used to.
Here's another example of a corporation going woke:
I agree but why flood this specific board when it has not shown any woke sjw propaganda? Shouldn't you guys be supporting shows that try to avoid all of that?
I stopped watching STD bec of the sjw propaganda which was apparent in the 1st ep yet I gave it a chance for an entire season. I'm a bigger ST fan than SW btw and liked VOY, DS9, and ENT despite haters. I also like the prequels and Rogue One. I have not seen any sjw propaganda here and I am enjoying the show immensely though I have a few minor quibbles here and there.
Why support a company that hates you? If his posts wake up a few more blind sheep, good on him for spreading the word. We need more people like NukeDuke to not only take a stand but spread the word about it, too.
I've already referred to Disney SW as hacks, the sequel trilogy as poorly executed and the Finn character as reinforcing black stereotypes. SOME "fans" are misogynistic, racist manbabies.
It's not for Disney or anyone else to say who and who is not a fan of classic Star Wars. People decide for themselves whether or not they like something.
And sorry, but Disney is full of this current, tiresome, woke, self-righteous crap (and I'm not even talking about their misrepresentation of Florida's parental rights law). As others have pointed out, whoever is running Disney's official Star Wars Twitter feed, put out the tweet "We are proud to welcome Moses Ingram to the Star Wars family and excited for Reva's story to unfold. If anyone intends to make her feel in any way unwelcome, we have only one thing to say: we resist."
There was no whatever for that second sentence. Why put it in? Because they sense a replay of the Rose Tiko drama perhaps? But people's problem with Rose Tiko was not that she was not white, it was that she was a shallow, poorly written character. Female? Not white? So what? None of the fans ever had a problem with Leia or Lando on those accounts. That's NOT why people are criticizing.
A company that is putting out quality entertainment, that includes interesting, well-written, relatable characters, doesn't have to preemptively attack fans and smear them as bigots in order to deflect criticism. It does that because it's full of self-righteous assholes who are committed to pushing an agenda over entertaining people, and can't stand that audiences don't like the dreck they're shoveling out.
You're saying it's ok to call Moses the n-word because that's what the actress and Disney are complaining about.
No, that’s not what I said, and I’ll thank you not to put words in my mouth.
First off, Disney’s tweet said “If anyone intends to make her feel in any way unwelcome...” not, “if anyone has made her feel… That was preemptive, not responsive. As for what Ingram herself has said, after posting a few examples of horrible DMs, that she has received “hundreds of those,” well… Let’s just say that in an era where Jussie Smollett is merely the latest in an actually very long line of hoaxers who fabricated or exaggerated incidents, where genuine racism appears to be a commodity for which the demand far exceeds the supply…
…I am no longer willing simply to accept such claims at face value. I want to see the evidence.
Of course it goes without saying that any actual racist messages deserve to be condemned in the strongest terms. And I am sure some of them at least are genuine, because the world is never going to be entirely free of assholes. But why the preemptive message from Disney? It’s totally unnecessary. Condemn any actual racist messages that have been received, and blame the senders. There is no need to tell the actress that Star Wars fandom is full of racists, and set her to looking for racism where she might not otherwise have found it.
Again, it smacks of damage control by creators who are attempting to deflect anticipated criticism of their product. reply share
Racists usually deny that racism exists, therefore you're not helping your case.
If Moses' acting or character were the only issue, then she wouldn't have been called the N-word. I've been complaining about the racist and misogynistic "fans" for many years. They need to find a different franchise.
Nope, sorry, not going to accept the Kafka trap, where if someone denies being X it is taken as evidence that the person is X since anyone who is X would deny being X. I have NO tolerance whatever for this critique. None. Anyone employing it should be ashamed of themselves.
This is creates an impossible situation, where if someone accuses you of being something, there is no escape. Admit you are X and you are X, deny you X and you are still X. You're convicted either way.
Nope. Not having it. It's impossible to live peaceably in a world like that, and it's impossible to discuss controversial subjects in a world like that.
I am not saying there are no actual racists attacking Moses Ingram, because there are always going to be trolls, neckbeards, assholes, and bigots in the world. But you're going to have to show me evidence that a majority, or even a truly sizeable minority of Star Wars fans fall into that category, and are criticizing this series on that grounds.
What has Harry Potter got to do with this? And you don't get to tell me, or anyone else for that matter, how much of a fan they are. That's not up to you. And a Kafka trap is a logical fallacy. Period. Full stop. End of story. It's bad reasoning. Unfalsifiable accusation. It embodies bad faith discussion.
You want to show Star Wars fans are racists? Fine. Prove it I'm entirely prepared to be convinced, on a case by case basis, because there are racists out there, and you'll inevitably find some. That's a given. But to say Star Wars fandom is "toxic?" To make so blanket an accusation?
Nope. Again: show me your evidence. And Kafka trap accusations will NOT be accepted as such.
I don't give a rat's ass what Disney considers me! Disney isn't making Star Wars. It's making some fucked up, shitty, PC, substandard pastiche of Star Wars, not the real thing. They've subverted, -- deliberately subverted -- everything about the franchise. They lost any legitimacy to claim what they make is actual Star Wars, when they took the story treatment that Star Wars' creator gave them when he sold them the rights, and tossed it in the trash can to make their woke garbage with Mary Sue Rey instead.
I'm not a racist, and I'm certainly not one, merely because you throw an unfalsifiable Kafka trap accusation at me. What you clearly are though is an arrogant, sanctimonious, narrow-minded piece of shit who is incapable of having a civilized, adult discussion, and/or respectful disagreement, and has to resort to name-calling and foot stomping. Like a child does. Well, since that's the way you decided to go, I'm not too noble to respond in kind, so: go fuck yourself asshole.
No, "fuck you" is an entirely rational response to be called a racist you insufferable piece of shit. What's unreasonable is to imagine that you can blithely slap very nasty and insulting labels on people, and they have no business getting offended.
Rational, civilized adults can have adult discussions (which is what I was attempting to have with you). The instant you start labeling people, you've not only left the path of reasoned argument, you've lost the moral high ground.
So throw all the labels you like at this point. I'm really not bothered by the opinions or claims of anyone I've lost any shred of respect for.
Classic example of Poe's law right here folks.
I have honestly reached the stage where the words "racist" and "sane" have become interchangeable when coming from you people.
"Oh you think he is racist because of an opinion that has nothing to do with race at all?, he must be ok then".
If you grew up with tapes and vhs, you'd have a different pov. And so many hypocrites decry thieving (downloading and uploading paid content) yet have no qualms destroying lives with cancel culture, false allegations, forced mutilations, church burnings, sexual harassment, grooming and pedophilia, as well as torturing and killing younglings. This from the same people and organization who were pro slavery, pro apartheid, pro nazi, pro segregation, and founded the kkk. So in my book, the hypocrites are infinitely worse.
Not everyone is ok with evil either. But it's your country, do with it what you will.
I did grow up with tapes and vhs. I'm not sure what that has to do with you downloading pirated material. The rest of your rant is just nonsense to justify you doing something you know is wrong.
