Benny was a terrible, terrible person

I know this movie is trying really hard to set up Jo as the unreasonable a**hole of the group. But honestly, he really isn’t. It’s Benny that’s the a**hole.
From the very beginning he keeps looking at Jo’s wife in a salacious way almost inviting her to flirt with him and each time Jo intervenes and tells him to back off like any husband would. And instead of just apologising and saying he didn’t mean anything, Benny smirks it off or confronts Jo as if Jo is unreasonable for being protective over his wife.
Also, Jo is terrified of water and is in a very stressful situation. He reacted as any person in his situation would upon seeing a dorsal fin. But how does Benny react? He teases him and humiliates him instead of just trying to calm him down. Overall, Benny is just a terrible terrible person.

Also, special mention goes to Charlie for saying “easy easy easy easy easy” to a woman in hysterics upon seeing her husband get brutally murdered. Overall, what an absolute horrible movie with horrible people.

I didn’t think any of the characters was a terrible person. Jo was the worst but still not a terrible person.

I don’t see how trying to calm Michelle down made Charlie a terrible person at all. What else was he supposed to do?

Okay maybe I was a bit too harsh on Charlie. I just thought it was pretty insensitive to tell a woman “easy easy easy” after she watched her husband die.

But I still think Benny is just the worst. He kept eyeing Michelle even though it was clearly making Jo uncomfortable. Okay, Jo may have been reading too much into it, whatever. But Benny never backs down or apologizes when Jo confronts him. Even if it’s just to release the tension with an already stressed out man.

Also, I can’t help but feel it’s Benny’s fault the seaplane gets attacked. They’re all sitting in the water at the same time. Then we cut to the next shot and Charlie and Kaz have both managed to get in the plane and equipped themselves. Where is Benny? Still outside eyeballing Michelle instead of getting back in and therefore slowing down the departure and giving the shark enough time to attack them.
