Can you imagine the shock....

that someone transported from 2013 to 2018 would have at who the new president is? LOL!

I haven't watched the pilot episode yet...is this addressed?

Good point! No, it hasn't been mentioned yet, which is a shame - it would have made for a great joke.

I was actually waiting for the "Wow, look at how much the world has changed" scene, where one of the main characters talk about all the things that shocked them.

Finding out the guy who hosted "The Apprentice" is the president of the U.S. would, of course, be a biggie, but probably they didn't do that joke because it would instantly make the show "political" and they didn't want to go there.

But just think of all the people who have passed away since 2013 who would get a "WTF?" response: Robin Williams, David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Joan Rivers...

And there was one scene where a character hands another character an up-to-date cell phone, and that character doesn't bat an eye. Now I know 2013 wasn't that long ago, but surely the speed and capability of the new phone should have at least gotten a "Whoa!".

The show seems to be ignoring any technological/societal changes that these characters certainly would have noticed, and I found that a bit jarring. It would have made the show better if someone had at least mentioned that things were different.

I have now watched the episode...the only thing I caught was a character saying "we got rid of the landline." I think most people (other than senior citizens) had gotten rid of them even in 2013.

You don't have to be a liberal and/or Trump-hater to be shocked that he's president. I think most people five years ago would've thought the next president would either be Hillary or a conventional Republican.

I for one am damned glad they didn't try to inject politics into the story. I am so sick of that shit.

But I do agree that a little bit more acknowledgement of new developments would've made sense. It also seemed, to me, like everyone just got back to living their lives without too much discussion of what exactly happened to them, and it seems the central mystery--the most important part of the story--is kind of getting relegated to the sidelines.

Amen! I think they'll get back to the central mystery soon enough.

I disagree. It should have been set back a bit further, maybe 2010. Then 2018 would REALLY be a shock. The 2013 world wasn't that different in terms of technology, culture and the alt right movement was already ''rearing'' back up again.

In 2010 no one would ever have guessed this is where we would have arrived. Snap chat didn't exist in 2010, smart phones were ''just'' becoming a thing back then and there wasn't that many of them, Instagram was just starting out, bitcoin hadn't gained traction. The fashion and music scene was completely different.

They probably would've wanted to get back on the plane and go back where they came from. Anything to get away from today's social media landscape and everyone being offended all the time.

Amen, PM! Well said.

They probably won't address it or put in a false president so as not to date it for syndication.

You know my favorite part of any time travel movies or tv shows is when the protagonist or whomever says "Coffee is 3.45$! how preposterous!"

Loved Sleepy hollow. They delivered the questioning very well there.
