Scottie Pippen was never going to enjoy The Last Dance

The NBA hall of famer is reportedly "wounded and disappointed" by the ESPN documentary on Michael Jordan and the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls team -- he's yet to do a follow-up interview. "But Pippen was never going to enjoy The Last Dance because it's the Scottie Pippen story as told by Michael Jordan," says Liam McKeone. "This is the case for everyone else, but it's easy to understand how it's harder to swallow for him. Pippen's entire career (and given the sheer power of Jordan's influence, probably most of his adult life) was overshadowed by playing next to the greatest player of all time. The documentary could have been an opportunity to shine light on just how important Pippen's skills were to the Bulls' dynasty, and it did, to an extent. People who didn't or couldn't watch those Bulls teams came away with an understanding that Jordan's path would have been significantly more difficult without Pippen by his side. But this was Jordan's story, and in Jordan's story, who stood in his way was more important than who stood by his side."

I do not know what there is to be upset about.
Other than everyone commenting on how they couldn't believe Pippen refused to go in for the last play of that Knicks playoff game...when Jordan was in retirement, Pippen looks good in the show, Jordan compliments him endlessly. He says he never won any titles without Scotty Pippen.

I don't get why he's angry and bitter either. Clearly this is a documentary focusing on MJ but he was made to look good while addressing things Pippen had to deal with. MJ constantly defended and complimented him. Imo he is making himself look bad, no one else.

I agree with you.

I think Scottie Pippen is an "odd duck," so to speak. Yes, Jordan didn't win any championships without him...but Pippen didn't win any without Jordan either. They were so great together. I'd like to see them reconcile one day, but there's a lot of ego on both sides.
