horrible pacing/content

hmm.....saw the first 6 episodes... thought they sucked, not due to content, but the way they skip back and forth in time...... just one example: first we see scottie pippen as a kid, next second we are in 1997 talking about his bulls contract dispute !...... there are 10 episodes in this series, how about starting from the beginning with all the players and then move forward in a straight timeline ! too much jumping back and forth.
anyone feel the same?

Moving the time line helps you understand where the players where, and where they came from. They can focus on issues and themes, rather than just one boring linear story.

but dude.... they went from showing scottie in school to his disagreement with bulls management in 1997........ they went straight past 5 championships.

that is just ridiculous, that is not good storytelling !

even tiger king had a better timeline lol

But that section was about Scotty, not about the actual championships. I get that it's confusing. It's a ten hour/10 episode mini series, they can't just run from minute 1 to the end seamlessly.

i think it worked for the first 6-7 episodes, but once they were jumping between 1998 & 1997 & back again, it started getting a little confusing

reply

Yeah, I agree with that. Many documentaries (and regular films) are made this way--the jumping back and forth in time.

However, as we got closer to the end, and the two consecutive series finals against the Jazz, it did get a bit confusing.
