Different Dimensions?
I wonder why the houses changed color when Gemma was 'melting' into other levels with different couples in the houses.

That's kinda how I saw it. Though technically they would be different universes. Its like every couple is in their own neighborhood universe with a hidden tunnel system that lets you move from one to another. If you enter a neighborhood universe that is not yours, it appears as a different color.
shareand maybe that's why the are different colors (different light spectrum,atmospheres etc)
