Alligator bites...?
If an alligator chomps on your arm or leg, what are the odds you could still use it as extensively as Hayley does in this film?

shareIKR, and considering her small petite size and as big as that gator was what were the odds of her having even having an arm or leg?
shareThe difference between “small” and “petite” is . . . ?
Answer: no difference at all.

Oh wow thanks professor Kane, don't know what I'd do with you. Can you help me tie my shoes?
shareIn fashion petite generally means short in the torso. A petite woman can be any size from 0 to 24 or more.
So a small, petite woman would be a woman who was short in the torso and also small in general, so a 0petite or 2 petite.
The equivalent for ladies long in the torso is tall. The same size apply, a woman can be 0T to 24 T.
As always, thank you for your informed reply; however, I assumed we were writing in the vernacular, and not specifically in the context of fashion.
shareI understand, but for many people (not all, certainly) it is understood that petite means short torso, so the phrase "small, petite woman" wouldn't be unusual. However, I will grant you that the casual, everyday use of the phrase would be more likely among boomers and older than for younger folks.
Asking questions about survival in a movie like this is pointless. This is pure escapism. Have fun with it, don't question it.
shareI had a lot of fun watching the movie and now I'm having more fun by investigating the "true science" behind it. Learning more about survivalism, alligators, flooding, swimming top speeds, etc., is fun for me. I just wanted to know what a chomp from a 'gator would do to a human limb.

shareClean off! Wow! That's horrifying! I assumed that the bones would be crushed, but not necessarily that the thing would take the limb right off!
Thanks for the info, friend!
