It's pretty easy to see that she could still get the guy in the dimension where her mom is alive (and she doesn't even have to feel bad about, because it's revealed Danielle is cheating), so why go back anymore? No need to choose.
shareYeah, I thought that. If his girlfriend is cheating on him, she could reveal that and win Carter back in the new dimension. This didn't seem to occur to her.
I think the real point was though, Tree realised how selfish she was being when her mother reminisced about memories that she herself didn't share. She was preventing another Tree somewhere from leading that life. That was the epiphany moment.
