Waste of Resources
The plot, characters, cage, writing, camera gimmicks, and pretty much everything else could've been better utilized. This was just a movie made by wannabe filmmakers and it shows.
shareYou ain't wrong. Incompetence on almost all levels. At one point I was wondering if this is intentionally meant to be campy for the fun of it, but I don't think so and wasn't fun at all. They are not even that incompetent to make something like "Manos" or "Plan 9". They are just mediocre and lame. The guy who directed it couldn't have shot even his own wedding. The writer lacks any sense of humor or logic, let alone writing abilities. Even Nick was bored and lazy.
It is a fun idea (likely ripped off from a video game, as the Trivia page suggests) but, apart from the animatronics and Nick's presence, nothing here is worth the time. I recently watched Psycho Gorman and it is a perfect example of what few creative and enthusiastic dudes could do with no money, no Nick. But maybe we are supposed to like "Willy's", because it tries so hard to be cool. Trying to be cool sometimes is no less important than actually being cool - it sells. Especially to people who are really hard trying to look cool.

I didn't love it, but I liked it well enough. I'll agree that the concept could've been executed better, but I think there were some budgetary restrictions at play here.
Overall I think the film is fairly entertaining. And Nick's presence makes any film better.

I see why you have may liked it. When I wrote the post above I had in mind some reviewers on IMDb rating it 8-9-10 and saying that it is cult.
shareBudgetary reason??? There are so many redundant shots... so they could have used their budget much better if they had a decent or fun story to tell... but apparently they didn't so the had to rely on stuff they thought would be cool... I would say 3/10...
