Season 3 starts and I barely care to watch. Since there is nothing exiting about this show. Writers dont know what to do with it. They dont have main plot. So its just "Every episode Mandalorian has "adventure of the week" where he comes to some planet and locals hire him to take care of someone they have beef with. He does then flies away. Then next week again new planet and new McGuffin".
They created that Yoda doll and thn they dont know what to do with it. They had lazy plot in Season 1 how Mando has to take save him and take somewhere. Then they resolved it with Mando taking him as his adoptive son or more like beloved pet. And then Mando himself didnt know what to do so he was just wondering around, looking for adventures.
And its really boring. Season 3 opener. Again new planet, Mandalorian comes, hangs out, looks for McGuffin then flies away.
Considering Season 1 and 2 were pretty darn epic i can assure you the hype isnt dying, perhaps be patient, only 1 episode has been shown so far, pretty clear what the main plot is perhaps you need to rewatch and pay attention or watch season 1 and 2.
I think this season is likely to be a mess since they already took the good premiere episodes and shoved them into the Boba Fett show and then had to scramble to stuff some other crap into this season to fill it out.
Disagree, the show is entertaining and is a fun space-western-action-adventure that actually has plenty of action and adventure. Easily one of the best shows of its genre and one of the best shows on TV right now for me.
I think the problem is, and the show seems very much to me like it was before. That the simple, stripped down nature of it which was once refreshing is now not enough to sate our Star Wars desires. We've had some fun with that. We've all gotten used to it. But now we're ready for some high stakes action again. And it may well be coming, who knows. I thought the space battle in the mine field was properly epic and intense. I really like the way they edited that together. Especially with the punchy little bits of soundtrack timed to each explosion. I have a feeling some big surprises may well be on the way when we finally get to Mandalore. Small criticism: Baby Yoda is starting to feel like a clumsy crutch. Kind of wish they left him with Luke. I also feel that the mess of that Boba Fett season brought this whole branch of the brand down. It sucked, it diluted the "western theme", and it's a little hard getting back into rhythm of hype. At least for this fan. It didn't poison the well I don't think. But those f'n vespas, man. It was all I could think about when we went back to that town to visit the robot and Carl Weathers. Sure hope those dumb Vespas don't show up. Literally what i'm thinking while watching. That's a problem. That's a brand management problem.
The vespa riding cyberpunk gang (who I agree are awful) are actually on Tatooine and not Nevarro where Carl Weathers' character is. That gang is probably one of the worst ideas I've ever seen from Jon Favreau who I'm a big fan of, they really should have been left out and the fact they brought them back for the finale was so annoying.
Book of Boba Fett is a mess though I agree. Only 3 of the 7 episodes (episodes 2, 5 and 6) are what I'd consider the standard I'd expect from Favreau. Everything else needed some rewrites as I don't think Favreau knew what to do with Boba Fett and I think they should have left Favreau on The Mandalorian and gone with someone else for the spin-off, although that didn't work out for the Obi-Wan series either as that was plagued with terrible writing as well. I thought Andor was very good and I'm very much looking forward to season 2 of that.
I really hope this third season of Mando is as good as if not even better than the first two though. The critics have seen episode 2 already and they're saying it's a great episode that's action packed and suspenseful so I'm still hyped.
I forgot all about Obi-Wan. That happened too. That's what i'm talking about with brand damage. Mandalorian bought back a lot fan positivity and then it was all squandered before they got the third season back to air. One step forward, two steps back. They need to work harder on this stuff. In the script stage. Before they erect a single green screen panel. Or whatever the hell they use over there now.
Yep, it's the same problem Marvel are having with their Disney + shows in that there is a lack of quality control. Some of them I've enjoyed whilst others have been straight up garbage.
I get the problem. You have a brand new streaming service. Brand new tech. You just over payed for an IP. I get it. But they don't understand what thy bought.
It's a BS show ... but that's genius when it is done in a Star Wars context.
I thought I'd give it a watch in S1 and joined Disney for a month.
So boring and pointless ... like SWs itself.
