First trailer
As someone who grew up loving the animated film, and who also loves anything with dogs, I think it looks cute. Now I'd like to see a full-length trailer.

I see they've added the token black (wife) this time to diversify and make it look like blacks make 50% of the population. Too bad you never see it happen to hispanics or asians.
sharePlease, there's classes and there's classes. Nowadays, blacks are the top one. Hispanics are in a lower position. Asians are almost as low as Whites.
In a nutshell, the higher the economical success of a community and the average IQ, the lower the social status in the Multicultural society. Asians should start to have worse academical scores and a higher crime rate if they want to be better considered in our society. It's up to them.
Three black women who are mediocre actresses and identify as queer. How anyone can still claim that Disney does not have a political agenda is mindboggling.
shareI didn't even notice she was black until you mentioned it.
If it was set in the modern day then that might not be especially noteworthy, but since they seem to have set the story in the same era as the animated film, it doesn't really make sense for obvious reasons.
I think it looks quite cute also. I don't care for replacing cartoon animals with cgi ones because I find cgi animals to generally be quite scary looking (which is why I didn't care for recent film The Jungle Book and won't be seeing recent film, The Lion King). Using real animals in most scenes works for me.
shareI don't have a problem with CGI animals in principle, but for a story like this I think it's 100x more charming and satisfying to use real animals. It's got kind of a Homeward Bound vibe, and that's another one of my favorite Disney films.
shareAww. Homeward Bound is such a warm, happy family movie. Totally agree about the charm of it.
shareMy grandmother had it on VHS when I was a kid and I watched it several times. About a year or two ago I revisited it for the first time in probably 25 years and was happy to see that it holds up quite well and is still a very enjoyable film for me, even in my mid-30s.
As you say, it's such a warm, happy family movie! It's a shame that it seems largely forgotten these days.
It's weird that it's been forgotten, especially with the rise in similar films recently. Like A Dog's Journey, for example. It should be making a comeback any day.
