total turn off

they lost me at "Woman" + "King"

reply

Do you know why it was called that? According to some sources, the Dahomey were not feminists. They wanted to be recognized as men.

Is it really that hard to understand?

reply

Nope. You have to watch the movie in order to understand the title.

reply

I have not watched the film yet. I read about the Dahomey years ago.

Here is a video from The History Guy; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgXo1DKFVOg

"They wanted to be recognized as men."

That sounds like something misogynists would say. European men would be shocked to see women in positions of power at that time and believed there was something wrong with it. The French colonialists removed the women's political and military power.

the title is a turn off for me,

Is it really that hard to understand?

reply

If it turns you off, then why dwell on it here?

reply

because freedom

reply

You have to actually watch the movie in order to understand the title.

reply

You're asking too much to these reactionaries.

reply

the title has to convince me to watch,
I am not a ''consume product and then get excited for next product'' robot..

reply

So you judge movies based on their titles, huh.

reply

I don't judge movies based on their titles, I judge what to watch based on titles, posters, trailers and reviews

reply

The movie has multiple cool fight scenes. These women knew martial arts.

reply

So true. They're idiots complaining about a movie plot that exists only in their heads. They have no idea what the movie is about.

reply

like some kind of click bait

reply
