Started out promising, but the last half hour devolves into Keystone Cops-level silliness. It's a shame because it had the potential to be something far more substantial/scary.

In contrast, Ti West's "House of the Devil" is a much more disquieting recent horror film with an 80s setting and several unexpected twists.

Food in Films: Pastor Butler enjoys a soda pop and a cookie while mayhem rages.

Interesting that you brought up House of the Devil because Greta Gerwig in that movie seems to have inspired Maddie Hasson's look in this movie.

Good connection. Looking at the character pics side by side you can definitely see it--though Gerwig is a bit more Farrah while Hasson is a bit more Madonna.

The twist with Gerwig's character in HOTD was totally unexpected for me. Wish this one had a scene that jolted me like that.
