Is this as bad as everyone is saying?
I hear it's a poorly acted borefest.
shareNo, it's the opposite, It's pretty good!
shareI agree. The show is good.
Too bad with the news just earlier today about the cancelled show. I honestly am not surprised at all. They really should have focused a lot more on Yorick. So much potential. What a total waste. Now I wish the show was made a decade ago.
Do hope the show continues on Netflix or some other streaming service. So much potential.
reckon it is getting better by the episode
shareEpisode 4 came out Mon. Lowest rating and only review says it's a mess.
Good thing they don't call it Sci Fi, there's no science. No possible explanation for every XY human die on same day.
Do you mean lowest ratings on IMDb or viewer wise?
shareLOL
shareThe graphic novel did have an explanation, biowarfare on China 🇨🇳 to stop the birth of males to cripple them but something went wrong (there were other reasons ranging from magic ring to earth lesbiana getting rid of all male mammals BS) … no virus can have that successful of a kill rate, even an engineered one will have a 1-10% survivor rate just due to genetic anomalies alone
I do agree that the instantaneous way every man croaked was ludicrous but makes for drama I guess…
Lowest rating for the series. Half the votes of previous episode.
share"No possible explanation for every XY human die on same day."
That's not what science fiction means. That's why it's called science FICTION.
Much better than I expected it to be.
I wouldn't pay for this type of content, but the episodes released so far are entertaining.
How woke is it? I liked the comic but I have no desire to hear a load of anti male rhetoric from blue haired lunatic feminists if that's the direction they've taken.
shareSo far it is only woke in the casting. e.g., the typical brown/black/tranny characters to push the agenda. The story has not been woke, I have a tendency to skip those scenes anyways. The last man was white, very rare...
shareHow can there be tranny characters in it and still have it hold on to its initial conceit? If everyone with a Y chromosome died off, it doesn't matter what gender one says or thinks they are, they're going to die. You can't change your chromosomes, no matter how hard you believe otherwise. Doesn't make any biological sense.
share"I have no desire to hear a load of anti male rhetoric from blue haired lunatic feminists if that's the direction they've taken. "
Are you sure you even read the comic?
I won't repeat myself. Have you read the comic?
shareWhat do you think you are accomplishing by not only ignoring my question, but repeating it back to me?
There are entire chunks of the comic that revolve around anti-male characters. Particularly villains.
I can ignore your question as I've referred you to the answer I have already given. It has not changed.
I repeated the question back to you to determine if you're actually knowledgeable on this subject or you're merely trolling because you got trampled all over in the Kyle Rittenhouse thread.
I find it pretty hard to believe you wouldn't think someone would be extremely suspect of an adaptation of this in 2021. A time where apparently feelings take priority over facts and science.
Consider how females are portrayed in the comic. So inept and incompetent that society, Government and infrastructure collapses without men. Not to mention the "problematic" aspect of a virus wiping out all men, including trans women and that trans men would be fine as they're not actually men.
Plus the fact that from what I gather, Yorick is almost a background character in the TV series. It's not exactly a stretch to think that maybe, sidelining the main character is at all representative of where this adaptation has gone.
"Consider how females are portrayed in the comic. So inept and incompetent that society, Government and infrastructure collapses without men."
Oh, dear God... Half of the population dropped dead in an instant, THAT is why the survivors are scrambling, not because they are women. Vaughn and Guerra weren't making a statement, let alone a derogatory one, about women as a whole.
And there were some extremely anti-male characters in this book. Yorrick's sister and the rest of the Amazons. You wwon't watch this show out of fear of feminism, but the graphic novel is loaded with it. Dude...
The perceived ineptitude of women is a genuine criticism that the blue haired types had of the comics. Look at all the twitter nutters that came out of the woodwork after finding out about the adaptation, who clearly had no idea the comic even existed before. I saw numerous articles slamming how women were portrayed even if it is a realistic portrayal of what happens when you lose a significant chunk of the workforce. They took it as a genuine slight against them. No doubt bringing up STEM roles leaning more male etc.
I'm not afraid of feminism. Who is afraid of feminism? lol. I can deal with a handful of anti-male characters. That is to be expected with something like this. I just have no desire to sit of front of a TV for the best part of 7 hours and be lectured about the evils of "cis men" etc or watch as they try and bend science to account for trans women surviving or something mad like that as they hijack this premise to push some insane narrative. Or watch as one dimensional "feminist" characters unironically mimic male character traits after spending hours denouncing them.
I wonder how many times "cis male" was used btw.
Pia Guerra, the co-creator of the comic, is a liberal:

She was not making a commentary on how inept women are.
I don't know if you're misreading or you're intentionally ignoring what I'm saying, but what I said was nothing about the intention of the creators re. the commentary on women in this situation. I'm talking about how some of the blue haired twitter nutters interpreted the comic. Thinking it was attacking women.
shareYOU "attacked" (your words) women, LOL! You said they were portrayed as inept and incompetent without men. That is what you said. No, they weren't. That's your incorrect interpretation. The comic is not a shot at women. That's wrong, whether its you, feminists, or both saying it.
shareWhat? I said the blue haired twitter lunatics thought it was attacking women. Why are you lying about me me saying "attacked"? I never said it was a shot at women. You're looking for stuff that isn't there man...
So I'm imagining articles like this exist then?

You literally said this:
"Consider how females are portrayed in the comic. So inept and incompetent that society, Government and infrastructure collapses without men"
And that's an inaccurate statement? Yeah, you can argue the world going to shit would happen because of a reduced work force but I think it would be disingenuous to say that women hold a significant number of key positions which would have a massive impact. Rightly or wrongly. Consider how stuff like HR is predominantly female. I mean, let's be honest, the world would go on without HR departments...You can't change the fact that that is the direction the creators went. It's simply a fact that this was the speculation of the creators that this would happen. They had an opportunity to conceive a different world but didn't.
shareI just finished the first season. It was pretty good actually. Much better than I thought it would be. It's a shame it got cancelled, it would have been interesting to see where it goes after season 1.
