Horrible waste of time

I watched it till the end(torture in itself) just because I bought it used on recommendation. Everything has to do with nothing. Are you supposed to piece(no pun intended)together random occurrences that don't even have to do with just a particular family(implying hereditary)?
Because the imposing sound,darkened visual effects and cheap jump scares were thrown in? Maybe I just come from a time that a good story was written and it was portrayed in a coherent theatrical presentation.This requires more filling in the blanks than an Ad Libs book and more 'interpretation' than a Jackson Pollock painting. If you have no story to tell---don't make a movie about it.
