Just saw this and...its pretty good!

I'd been excited for it since first hearing of the film some six months ago or so, and yeah, as far as movies go, it ended up being a good one. But as far as the concept goes...I can't help feeling like they could have done so much more with it. Its the scope...it was a lot more limited than I'd imagined, and I don't think its a spoiler as much as its "fair" to say that if you're expecting anything more than an character study in a small-town setting, you may find yourself disappointed.

That being said, the kid was great...definitely a great choice for this character and arguably the best thing about this movie. He's creepy af while playing a tween boy exactly like a tween boy, superhero or not. Which somehow brings in a little more menace...to so aptly convey just how terrifying it'd be to have such an immature mind in control of immeasurable power. Its pretty freaky watching him try to decide whether or not he's going to keep up the charade of pretending to respect others' authority.

The gore wasn't too much...the camera lingered a few extra seconds here and there, but nothing that'll make you want to turn away in discomfort.
I'll wait a couple weeks to say more...a little curious to see what others have to say about it.

Haven't seen it yet (Is it coming to HBO or Netflix?) but reviews by viewers run the entire gamut from Hate it intensely to its the second coming.

Guess I better check to find out. That is, if i can find it.
