spoil this for me.........
because i will never watch it.
shareWhy will you never watch it? It is an excellent film. You really should watch it. The screenplay is really well written and the performances are excellent.
shareTwo main characters are a married couple and they have a son
shareThere's nothing significant to spoil. The movie is shallow dreck that feels like a narcissistic playwright's scribble notebook of hackneyed relationship arguments. As much as I generally dislike Adam Driver's acting, however, I respect what he did to bring some shred of humanity to such an insufferable character. May this drivel vanish into obscurity after February.
shareIt starts with a "separated" couple (they still live together), and goes on as they deal with divorce, divorce lawyers, and their son. They are both coarse, arrogant (she more than he), and selfish. It appears viewers who have gone through divorce can relate to it. I see over-the-top acting and possibly an expectation of empathy or sympathy from the audience. I have none. These two characters love each other but are too stupid/foolish to get over the "bad hump" many times happens in marriages. The lawyers ask for money, then demonize each spouse. The couple gets divorced. She gets a new beau, or husband, I don't know, and custody of their son. The son will probably never get over it. The End
I thought so. Thanks.
shareSo basically this is just about people going through marital troubles...
I don't see the appeal let alone the critical acclaim. This sounds so dull
It clicks with some people and not others. I'd say if you're unimpressed after watching for 15 minutes, you won't like it.
shareI probably won't even give it a try. I'm sure its good for what it is but I personally don't care about watching 2 people go through a marriage/divorce. That just seems boring to me.
shareIt's worth a watch, but overhyped. I find Baumbach mostly overrated. If you're just going to see one Baumbach movie, I'd make it the Meyerowitz Stories. That one was great.
shareMan, so do I. The only one of his that I've enjoyed is The Squid and the Whale. Haven't seen Meyerowitz yet, though.
shareSame. Looks boring as hell.
