The unarmed Galahadriel wrestled five much larger male guards and strong armed...

...them all into her cell and she must have pick pocketed the cell door keys at the same time and locked them up all in a jiffy ! And finishes with a self satisfied little smirk for the bearded guy. What a farcical scene.

the trend now is the ridiculous powerful female superhero surrounded by the stupidest and most cowardly males imaginable. i havent watched most of it yet but has anyone underestimated galahadriel yet because she has a vagina?

reply

I knew the scene would upset the whiny manbabies 😂

reply

You have to be mighty stupid to not be upset.
Were you upset argentinian guy?

reply

Why should fantasy fiction upset me?

reply

Because of the stupid action in it.
Well low iq, low expectations, I guess.
How were your expectations regarding this show?

reply

yup two pages of 'mary sue' bitching and moaning .

That Orlando guy did all this same same impossible shit in LORTR and all the manbabies were like:

"dude!, like whoah thats cool - see how he surfboarded down the side of the castle getting headshots all the way down - rad"

reply

It was very poorly handled. We didn't even get to see much action except a quick 5s shove of one or two guys and boom suddenly the 5 large linebackers are inside and she is somehow locking them up.

It reminded me of Batgirl and Supergirl TV shows where puny Batgirl beat up several 250lb 6'2" thugs easily as did Supergirl's sister.

These take you out the zone while watching because your bs meter hits 10 rightaway and is jarring.
Women are indeed strong and powerful but in their own way and when they play to their strengths. There are also many physically strong women who can likely put a good fight against many guys or maybe win but they do look beefy, bulky (but not like Equalizers Queen Latifah who seems to have equalized too many donuts) and fit that part.

Also, as a guy I would love for strong scenes done well with women action like say Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King where Eowyn takes hits but comes back to take out the Nazgul. Not just women, but many guys also cheered for that scene because it was done so well and believably. She took advantage of the hobbit stabbing the witch king and it was teamwork and she was injured too and came back. Now she didn't parkour jump around or do something beyond the realm of her physical strength boundary but actually just stabbed him which is all it required.

Why can't they do things like that now? I'm all for women to be shown strong and that is how I want to see it. Maybe they use their wiles and their natural traits to overcome foes and work as a team.

This LotR Galadriel is goofy, unlikeable and needlessly rude and bratty and goes alone. That is not what LotR is about. It starts off a "Fellowship..." which mean teamwork. That is 100% missing in favor of showing some uber woman who does acrobatics to defeat a cave troll solo (after THEY basically went to the troll's home) and discards everyone in that valar ship, jumps off to swim 1000s of miles (lol) and gets some raft people killed and bosses all.

But she is more dexterous and has a higher base armour class the guards shouldn't have worn full plate the penalties aren't worth it.

Being stronger only means more damage if you can land a hit, of course martial arts teaches people to redirect the wasted attacks strong people use when they try to hit a nimble target, wasted because it throws them off balance and makes them vulnerable to counterattacks.

And did you notice, she didn't mess up her hair or break a nail either? She's almost too pretty to be this badass.

Galadriel is a force to be reckoned with. I would not want to meet her in a dark alley.

reply

She must be pretty strong (along with all elves I guess). She did punch through a rock wall, didn't she?

reply

I think Elves are supposed to be the best fighters on the show and that includes The Hobbit and LOTR films and books.

They're swift and nimble but I don't recall Galadriel being a warrior type. So yeah, all of her scenes like this are kind of funny if not down right ridiculous.

reply

Elf, elite veteran warrior elf, 3 guards, element of surprise. No one was expecting her to resist an armed escort.
It's far from the most unbelievable combat scene in Hobbit-dom.

reply

When I saw that scene, I was like, "What did I just miss."
