It should have been Judy Davis. Sure, Garland was 47 when she died, and Renee is 48, but Renee looks great and Garland could have passed for 70! Or 90!
It's weird, I'm impressed with certain stills, or shots of her sitting alone, or her side view. But straight on, I don't
see an unhealthy Judy Garland.
Vocally, she sounds more like Shirley MacLaine!! The phrasing is all wrong.
The actor playing the slimy Mickey Deans looks TOO sweet and nice.
Zellweger IS a talented actress, so it will be interesting to see the reviews.
God only knows what Garland's children will think.
To my knowledge (from the many biographies I've read), there was never any mention of plastic surgery.
Garland aged prematurely from a combination of over-work, smoking, alcohol, and prescription drugs. (Amphetamines for energy and weight loss and downers to come down from the uppers.)
When she was 17 and made "OZ," MGM already had her on drugs. This life-long crutch aged her and ultimately killed her.
Hello. The post above yours was talking about how bad Garland looked at the end. So, I wasn't sure who your post was referring to.
I just wanted to put those facts out there, because there is so much misinformation going around about Garland that people take as gospel. Better to know the facts.
I thought she was very good. But then I went on YouTube to find the late TV footage of Garland and thought how unlike they are - especially the eyes. But to be fair Judy Garland was unique and no amount of makeup or prosthetics will produce that effect. So I guess you cannot begin to judge the performance on appearances - only on the impression left - which loops me back to - I thought she was pretty good.
