Fun, playful, entertaining film

I went and saw the 11 am showing of Dora and the Lost City of Gold at Landmark Cinemas today. This adventure comedy is based on the Dora the Explorer show and is directed by James Bobin. I have never seen the cartoon show but I really enjoyed the movie. The beautiful and talented Isabela Moner is perfectly cast as Dora, who is now a 16 year old, attending public school in the city for the first time. When a class field trip goes wrong, Dora, her cousin Diego, and two classmates, end up on a jungle adventure. Isabela Moner really brings Dora to life with a lot of charm and energy. If you don't love Dora yet, you will adore her by the end of this movie. The film is a delight and a lot of fun. The supporting cast, including Jeff Wahlberg, Madeleine Madden, Nicholas Coombe, Eugenio Derbez, Eva Longoria, and Michael Peña, are all good too. Swiper the fox is voiced by Benicio Del Toro and Boots the monkey is voiced by Danny Trejo. Dora and the Lost City of Gold is a playful, energetic funny adventure for families and people of all ages. I hope they make a sequel. My rating is a 9/10.

Even though I'm in my 30s I can always enjoy a good family film as well as a good adventure film. This one seems like it's probably just a little too kid-oriented for me to FULLY enjoy--as opposed to, say, the last Jumanji movie which I thought was a true fun-for-all-ages romp--but I'll still check it out once it hits Redbox.

I grew up loving the Indiana Jones films and this seems like a pint-sized version of the same idea. I am, if nothing else, happy that a new generation of filmgoers are being introduced to these kinds of stories. Hopefully it will whet their appetite for more, as I feel like fans of the adventure genre are under-served, and more demand could mean more films.

I liked it better than Bumblebee. I hope it gets another movie as I think Isabela can do one more within age highschool movie. It had a smaller budget than Bumblebee but It didn't have the overseas promotion of this. Well hopefully they do a second movie.

Benicio Del Toro as Swiper? That's surprisingly inspired. I might have to watch this at some point.

You should. I would be curious to hear what you think.

Your comment sounds like something generated from a PR machine.
I hope it's good - and because the Movie is good, not another Disney grab for a franchise.

I genuinely thought it was good. Check it out and see for yourself.

I liked the movie, though more kiddie oriented. I would say this was aimed at tweens and high schoolers. I did fall asleep, but that's because I had taken a muscle relaxer, lol.

I enjoyed it..and I'm 58! And I agree on a seuqle....

It has made twice its budget and still hasn't shown in Mexico and South America.
