Why isn’t her head shaved ?

It’s supposed to be shaved

In a visual medium sometimes you have to balance accuracy with what will actually look good to the viewer, so compromises are made.

But this is just stupid. Everyone knows that those who live in the Shaolin monastery have to shave their head in order to be accepted. If they aren't even willing to give the actress a bald cap out of fear that it'll make her less pretty, then why bother telling this story?

That'd be like doing a Wolf Man remake where the actor doesn't put on any makeup when he transforms. He just roars and growls. It's fucking ridiculous.

Does she pick up that heavy pot of burning coals, branding a dragon and a tiger into her forearms?

I was a kid when the first Kung Fu aired, and my mates and I loved it. We bought all the tie-in magazines. One month one of the mags gave away a free metal dragon pendant. We bought a copy each and decided it would be a really good idea to heat the pendants and burn dragons into our forearms, just like on the show. So we heated them over a gas oven, and on the count of three rammed these things into our arms.

Our cries brought my mate's mother running into the kitchen. Forearms shoved under cold, running water, frantic phone calls to parents, trips to the emergency room all round. And I don't even have a ****ing dragon-scar to show for it!

LOL!!

What's the scar/forearm look like?

reply

Honestly, hardly anything to see now. Slight difference in colour over the area, but really only visible at a certain angle. It showed more for quite a while, but we're talking nigh on fifty years ago now. My mum was very concerned. My dad just impressed me with his vocabulary.

It usually works in Tom & Jerry cartoons LOL.

Ever wondered why it failed? Maybe not enough heat?

reply

We weren't worthy. It wasn't 'time for us to leave'.
