Same as the Charmed reboot

Tries to trick people into thinking it's a remake but in reality they just steal the title of a popular show and build an entirely original show around it.Looks like another generic CW soapy drama with fight scenes.

We'll see how it will be. I like martial arts shows but maybe its a lame show. We'll see.

reply

I like them too.Been enjoying Cinemax's Warrior right now.The trailer for this didn't impress me at all.Just another generic CW drama.I would be slightly more interested if it were actually a remake of Kung fu but other than the title this has nothing to do with Kung fu.

So she's not a descendent of Caine?

reply

Nope.No connection to Kung fu except for ripping off the title. It's a new show.Their just using the title to lure in an audience.

reply

Maybe that's just as well. No show made today could recapture the wonderfully unique tone & ambience of the original Kung Fu anyway.

reply

Which should have starred Bruce Lee. But he was Chinese.

reply

I know. But I've got to say that David Carradine really pulled it off beautifully, even so. He had the acting chops to make it work.

reply

What I always heard was that Bruce Lee was just too *intense* for a role that needed to give off an air of serenity.

reply

Yeah, because Bruce didn’t know about meditation or anything.

Martial art is MOVING meditation, for crying out loud.

The role choice was based on racism, pure and simple.

reply

To me, Bruce didn't seem to project much serenity. I can't think of any role of his that wasn't high-energy.
Ideally the Caine role would have been played by a mixed-race actor to match the background of the character. Yes, technically Bruce had some German or British ancestry (exact origin and percentage varies from source to source), but it wasn't visually noticeable. Watching this show as a little kid was eye-opening and uplifting for me because I saw that there were actually other mixed-race people like me out there (even though the actor was fully white), and they could even be heroes. So I felt less like a 'fish out of water.'

I love Bruce Lee, but I can see that.

True.

Terrible acting.
Unbelievable female lead as per Woke doctrine.
No chemistry between the cast.
I don't care about any of the characters.
The bad guys don't seem plausible.
No mysticism or grit of the original.
The whole thing with the sword reminds me of Excalibur, great legend but not what I think of when it comes to martial arts.
Just flat overall.
