One hot strong mage. Wish they had a more younger hotter actress to play it :(. Not saying Rosamund Pike isn't attractive in her own degree but if she was doing this at her Tomorrow Never Dies age then it would be fine.

reply

Rosamund Pike is a good actress though and in this role that is more important than being young and hot.

reply

She's too tall for the role.

reply

Well 5' 8" is above average height for a woman but she's not what you would call a tall woman. Objection over-ruled !

reply

It was a character point of the novels that Morraine was very short and petite. Despite her diminutive size her presence alone could command a room. Casting an actress of above average height diminishes the effect.

Objection sustained!

reply

But a short arse is a short arse is a short arse and they don't command anything. Objection to the over-ruling over-ruled !

reply

Good comeback.😒

reply

I know, but Moraine being small, even for a woman, is one of her key character points. Moraine without her power would be very vulnerable.

reply

I think she's good casting. She's a good and versatile actress, can definitely play regal, aloof, and highly intelligent, and she's always had a bit of an ageless quality.

She could seem oddly mature when she was young, as if she'd lived for a long time without aging. And that's definitely a quality you want when casting a mysterious sorceress.

reply

No arguments there but I think Liv Tyler would've been just as good if not better.

reply

Ruth Wilson would have been my pick, but I'm not sure she would have been better than Rosamund Pike as far as the acting goes. Physically better yes. Ruth is a few years younger and looks stronger than Rosamund.

reply

Ruth Wilson always has a villain undertone, something in her presence makes her ... evil.

reply

Ruth Wilson is Eve Yill personified !? Obviously you haven't seen her as Jane Eyre in the 2006 TV mini-series of the same name where she was gentle, kind and true of heart, although admittedly a little horny at times.

reply

Except that Tyler comes across as rather sweet, and Pike never does. The character as written in the books was aloof and kinda scary, Tyler isn't scary but Pike can be.

So yeah, I think it's good casting.
