So the writers/creators decide to change the fact that the Dragon is exclusively male. It's the male side of the One Power that's tainted. If the male side can be wielded by a female what's the point of having a distinction? It's just a dumb change that hurts the story.
Eh? I didn't see that happening. It seems to be sticking to the books for the most part. Egwene al'Vere and Nynaeve al'Meara are going to be Aes Sedai later on.
Yes, I actually agree that change is inappropriate for the story. Even though only women are allowed to wield magic in the political world of the story, they know that the Dragon needs to be male. So it creates a dilemma for them and that drives a lot of the conflict in the books. So if the Dragon doesn't have to be male then the conflict comes from.... where?
Losing the polygamy, on the other hand, I applaud that.
Well, I would imagine that Rand will still have relationships with each of those three women as those interactions are important for the story. But he doesn't have to sleep with all of them, or any of them. And if he does, I'll stop watching. I'm not supporting polygamy indoctrination.
Wow. You do understand this is a show based on a fantasy series of novels, right? The polygamy isn't forced and it's a dishonest stretch to characterize it's inclusion as indoctrination. Also sleeping with multiple partners isn't polygamy and your objection to doing so is overly puritanical. Do you slut-shame sexually liberated women who have multiple sexual partners too? I guess fiction about serial killers is murder indoctrination.
Well, since you asked, no, I do not agree with women having multiple sexual partners, or men, for that matter. The fictional presentation of such relationships as a positive thing (e.g. sex in the city) leads, IMO, to men using women as sexual objects. Oh it's so feminist for women to be used for sexual pleasure by men? How did women fall for such a con?
The idea that three women would cheerfully share one man is also just unrealistic. Women generally want men to give up other women as a sign of love. When women are expected to share one man, there is a huge amount of jealousy and bitterness. The fantasy in the WoT novels is a male fantasy that women will see female servitude as a wonderful gift instead of a sign of male narcissism.
