Sorry but this movie is JUST LIKE Red Sparrow
Despite the fact that I liked this movie more, I felt that the story was very similar to Red Sparrow: an agent that the viewer does not know for whom he works until the last scene

shareWell, Trump is in office so we need to produce films to show how horrible and brutal Russia is. Of course very few people are still interested in such movies, that means we need hot girls in it with at least some nudity and a lot of violence.
These are sort of propaganda films, but as long as they are entertaining I am OK with it. Investors probably got their money back, maybe even some profits. So everybody wins.
I enjoyed Jennifer Lawrence's tits especially. I mean Sasha Luss (Anna) is hot, but she is not as famous.
Luc Besson wrote and directed the film but I doubt his heart was in it. I bet people knocked on his doors with a big bag of money and told him to make a movie about bad Russia and he basically ripped off Red Sparrow and came up with this.
As others pointed out there are numerous technical errors in the film. A lap-top that thin in 1985 Russia? Colored LCD was only available from 1986 in US.
But like I said I don't think his heart was in it at all. And I just checked the budget & box office of this movie, about $34 mil budget and $30 mil worldwide box office, considering production company could only get 30 ~ 40%, I would say this is a loss maker.
Red Sparrow budget $70 mil and $150 mil worldwide box office, but considering streaming and DVD, etc. it probably just broke even.
But since both were propaganda films I bet investors were OK with some losses. As for Luc Besson I bet he asked for cash upfront.
I just saw it the other day on HBO Max and thought it was much better by miles than Red Sparrow. As much as I like Jennifer Lawrence. I think this newcomer Sasha Luss showcased much better action skills. Maybe Lawrence didn’t have much to work with - I admit I kinda vaguely remember her kicking ass there - that award went to Johansson for Lucy which was also Besson produced vehicle.
All I want to say that this Anna movie worked much better overall to me. It wasn’t taking itself too serious and I can forgive for discrepancies or liberties taken as sone people pointed out like thin laptops in 1987. To me the movie was just more fun.
Well Lawrence's character in Red Sparrow was not trained for combat to begin with. She was a "Honey Pot" spy
shareYOU NAILED IT...RED SPARROW ONLY BETTER.
