Superficial
Unfortunately, Lee turned this story into a black-and-white cartoon. His better stuff was much more interesting. Noot his best by far.

shareI thought it was really nuanced. The main character being "between worlds", as it were, being a cop (the Man) and a black American, pulled between his passion for his job and his romantic life...it allowed for some interesting tension between those worlds and showing how somebody walks that line. The movie got into it with Driver's character, too, who was in his own version of race limbo.
The KKK were shown to be horrible monsters in this film. I'm okay with that.
