I'd say vanished. KKK is history. It has less members than a science club in Detroit.
But it happens the same that happened with Satan worshippers: religious guys saw them everywhere. Nowadays, different religion, different paranoias: they see nazis and KKK everywhere.
Well, that's classical comment like "all liberals are commies", "all republicans are KKK supporters".
What makes this particular attack so surrealist is that the KKK was founded by people from the Democrat party. We're living interesting times, that's sure.
The Democratic party used to be the Southern Conservatives.
"Democrat" and "Republican" are literally just meaningless party titles. They're not ideologies. Either one could be balanced or could be majority liberal or conservative.
The Republican Party was the new and progressive party long ago, after the Whig Party fell. This was when the Democratic Party was the Conservative one.
The republicans keep having the same ideology: equal rights, but everyone solves his shit, no victim cards. If blacks do better, great, if they do worse, too bad for them. That was then and that's now. End of the story.
It's the democrats the ones changing ideology every now and then.
Funny thing: perhaps the old Democrat party doesn't exist anymore, but the new one NEVER faced the KKK at his peak. The republicans were the ones who did. But then you have the democrats labeling republicans as KKK supporters.
Another example: US soldiers that actually fought the nazis were mostly white non-hispanic ones, the social stratum that now is the one supporting republicans. Then you have the democrats, which is becoming the party of immigrants... coming from countries that actually NEVER fought the nazis... labeling republicans as nazis.
So you're saying democrats and for that matter, blacks and latinos never fought the Nazis?
With a few exceptions, blacks and latinos never fought the Nazis. The death toll of blacks in WW2 was less of 1000 people, which was near to nothing in the context of that war. And latin-american countries didn't fight the war. The only country that had some casualties was Brazil, and again, near to nothing.
I don't think you are making any sense. Maybe this is a subject you should avoid, you don't really understand what point you are poorly trying to make.
The KKK didn't come from southern conservatives. It came from progressive liberals. They had taken over the Democrat party at the time. They supported a minimum wage to price blacks out of the market. They supported abortion to get rid of blacks. They supported licensure laws to kill black medical schools and black businesses. They supported all the same policies they support today, just with different marketing. Government solves every problem for every reason.
