Do you like episodes based on real events?

I know there have been a few episodes that have used real events for inspiration, I mean other shows have done it too. Criminal Minds for instance. But for some reason when this show does it, it bothers me. There have been a few that I know of, but the one that really stood out was Season 4s Blindsided that used Taconic State Parkway crash from 2009. It bothered me when I first saw it, and I'm watching it again on Disney + right now, and I still don't like it.

Do you like it when they do that?

The question is why don't you like it? As you noted, other shows do it. Law and Order did. Criminal Minds did. I would wager most dramas, especially police/fire/doctor shows do it to one degree or another. It is a ready source of story material and almost all writers will use some degree of real life events to help develop their stories.

What, specifically, why don't you like it when 9-1-1 does it? Tell us that, and perhaps we can address your question.

My question is simply, do you like those episodes? That's it.

I think I just find them in poor taste. Especially when it is really obvious.

In that case, yes I like them. I do not have any issue with any show/book/play using real life events as a basis for stories. I do not, generally, find it in bad taste. That isn't universal, of course. Immediately after a traumatic event, empathy and compassion says wait. However, after some period of time (your mileage may vary, but I say a year or so) it is acceptable to use them.
