Terry was a good sensei

Terry taught the students to fight hard, but fairly. He didn't allow them to get in trouble outside the dojo. He genuinely wanted to bury the hatchet with Daniel, but Daniel's arrogance was utterly disrespectful and it drove Terry defend his pride. I think if Miyagi was there he'd accept Terry's apology and scold Daniel for his impertinence.

He was a great man who’s admirable qualities often went overlooked by the mainstream. While his actions have been misunderstood by the establishment, loyal fans recognize him as a person of substance. Glad that he’s finally fulfilled his prophesy of opening up dojo’s around the valley.

And the cult of Kai rambles on.

reply

While the cult of Miyagi fades into obscurity. Not even a memory.

reply

You remember it well enough though eh?

Wrong. He taught them how to cheat and get away with it.

He didn't allow them to get in trouble outside the dojo.

No, he did the trouble part himself by beating up Stingray.

He genuinely wanted to bury the hatchet with Daniel,

Talk about disillusioned!

Lol!

1. The Cobra Kai students were encouraged to bend the rules, but not break them. They wanted to win which would have been impossible if they were disqualified.

2. Look at it from Terry's point of view. You are running a dojo with nothing but high school teens. Then some out-of-shape late-30's-Peter-Pan-complex man comes in acting like he is best friends with the kids. He was protecting them and needed to send a clear message that a creepy old guy has no business around kids.

3. Terry did want to apologize. He didn't even want to get back into karate at first. Had Daniel acted like Miyagi and said, "oh Terry, there's nothing to forgive." and gave him a hug, it would have undermined any negative intentions Kreese had. Notice the look of utter shock and offense Terry had when Daniel repaid his diplomacy with aggression.

4. Miyagi was easily able to forgive someone who threatened to take his life and steal his girl. What did Terry do to Daniel? Make him workout harder and toughen him up a little bit. Hardly unforgivable. Daniel didn't even pay for those services. Terry's workouts gave Daniel the fitness necessary to flip Barnes and score the final point. If he only relied on Miyagi's kata he wouldn't have been able to follow through due to the collapse of his abs as a result of lack of core strength. It was also Terry who taught Daniel to face his fear, which is what he needed to regain his focus. Miyagi never taught Daniel to face his fear, only to clear his mind.

Bending is cheating either way you cut it.

So instead of saying 'No, Stingray, you can't train here', the best way is to beat him within an inch of his life then tell him if he fingers Kreese for it he can be a Kai? Still going to be around, no?

Ha ha ha! That doesn't even deserve a response other than laughing at it.

He paid in blood and tears. Silver also set Barnes, Snake and Dennis on him...or are you forgetting that?

Terry's workouts gave Daniel the fitness necessary to flip Barnes and score the final point.

It didn't require fitness, it required technique, which Miyagi taught him.

If he only relied on Miyagi's kata he wouldn't have been able to follow through due to the collapse of his abs as a result of lack of core strength.

Well he did and he did.

It was also Terry who taught Daniel to face his fear, which is what he needed to regain his focus. Miyagi never taught Daniel to face his fear, only to clear his mind.

Seeing as Miyagi told him not to give in to fear that pretty much says you're talking bullshit there mate. Try harder you are not very good at this.

Terry Silver was a manipulative sociopath who would do anything, good or bad, to come out on top!!!

reply

Maybe, but nevertheless he was a good sensei. He gave Kenny lots confidence in himself and saved him from being bullied. He helped Tori win the All-Valley.

reply

No, he used a bullied kid's anger and manipulated him into feeding into that anger and becoming a much bigger bully, himself.

Tori was always arguably the baddest ass chick in the Valley. She didn't need Silver. In fact, she was only pretending to follow his bullshit, in order to expose him and take him down.

reply

I loved when he had that talk with Kenny about being a leader.. It reminded me of some of the things that I had to say to my nephew when he was running around with his friends being a little lackey.
