so, what the Cobra Kai kids did in the final ep...

That was a full-on home invasion with serious legal ramifications.

I mean, Kreese can egg them on all he wants, but I don't understand why they thought they'd just get away with it?..

All is fair in love and dojo wars.

But yeah, sure, there was nothing legal about that. As I see it, the karate-obsessed kids live in their own alternate reality and some things are understood and accepted within that reality that are totally unacceptable outside of it. It's like how in the world of street gangs or the mafia, they have their own rules and codes of honor that lie outside of normal society.

reply

I like your thinking. That reminds me of Pulp Fiction. Where were the police for Jules and Vincent? Ditto.

reply

I don't understand the comparison. When did Jules and Vincent do anything along the lines of what happened in that Cobra Kai episode? A gang of kids breaking into a suburban home, destroying it, and violently assaulting the occupants would end up with police on the scene in a matter of minutes, and a lot of people ending up in jail. What are you thinking of in Pulp Fiction that compares to this?

reply

Wait....what?

reply

but Jules and Vincent were avoiding the cops during the whole movie

reply

"All is fair in love and dojo wars"<< hilarious 😁😂🤣

reply

Yeah, like that Hawk guy breaking Demitri's arm and no cops involved?
In a real world, he'd be joining Robby in juvi asap and the rest of Cobra Kai's would get charged with "aiding and abetting".

reply

Why was Robby let out so quickly, btw?

reply

Ummm its a tv show. They have to fudge reality a bit or it would be damn boring or the timeframe would have to move months and years per episode. It's like when a character gets cancer in a film series or tv show. It gets cured and treated quickly in many cases. They have to move the plot along and unless they kill the character off, being miraculously cured or set free from jail early is the only way to do it.

But of you watch the show this season closely Robby was in juvie for about 3 months. From Sept to December.

reply

They did add a couple of lines to support him getting out early, such as turning himself in (yes, he ran from the cop at first, but after settling down, Daniel probably explained Robby had shown up at the rehab centre to turn himself in). And there is another time when, I believe Johnny, says Robby is doing community service to get out sooner.

reply

Plus it's implied the LaRusso's helped with legal aid which probably resulted in a light sentence to begin with.

reply

Maybe he got a light sentence since Miguel was the one who assaulted him?

reply

Also that! He was trying to break up a fight, got attacked and is looked at by a lot of the other kids as the bad guy for some reason.

reply

Even if the cops were involved, it could be seen as self defense, considering they didn't start the fight. It would be word vs word as to how exactly it happened. Obviously it would still go to court and all that, but this is a dumb karate show lol

reply

Not only that but Demetri probably didn't snitch.

reply

The show is based is ridiculousness and being completely poof. Did you watch the first 2 seasons? If so, then why are you suprised?

reply

Well both Johnny and Daniel went straight to Cobra Kai to fight Kreese and given that they promised to settle it at the tournament no need to phone the cops.

reply

Haha, yeah. They literally threw a kid threw a window, Friday the 13th style, to break in, and then thought they get away with a self defense claim.

reply

like a lot of shows this one requires a certain suspension of disbelief when it comes to the enforcement of laws, a.k.a the police do not really exist except in scenes that demonstrate they are useless. this is necessary because the show would have a premature end if they simply imprisoned Kreese or if the police came to evict him from the strip mall

reply

When season 3 begins some time has passed and I am sure there were PTA meetings, lawyers, and a CPS investigation. The producers didn't want to drag the show out with legal proceedings so they jumped ahead. Too be honest Robby, Tori, and the kid who beat up the teacher should never ever be allowed near that school again.

reply

Yeah. While the school brawl may have seemed more over the top in terms of scale and spectacle, this was definitely more over the top in terms of real life legal ramifications that everyone would be aware of before hand. Trashing Miyagi do Dojo under the cover of night is one thing but there is simply no way these teenagers would realistically expect to get away with such a brazen, premediated home invasion/attack.

Also maybe I just forgot this detail, but was it even explained exactly how Cobra Kai knew that Miyagi Do/Eagle Fang were all going to be congregated alone at the Larusso home that night?

reply

Maybe season 4 begins with all of the kids in prison
