There was one on The Boys where there was no actual rape, but at least there was coercion, and now this one, where there isn't even coercion!

Where was the rape? How was it disturbing? Where was the violence , because that was what the warning said??

Was something wrong with her vocal cords, she couldn't have said no? Does she not have agency even if a rich and powerful man shows interest? Plus he was a tender and giving lover! He friggin' went down on her! That's some rape!

These women who make these choices that they later regret and blame on the men really sicken me, and I say this as a woman and a feminist. Take some responsibility FFS. "Overcorrection" indeed.

Yes, no means no, but then you have to say it or just walk away, for Christ's sake.

Thank you again for your necessary and valuable comment. I honestly wonder how, in this current truly toxic climate, any man in the USA would date and sleep with a woman anymore, since he can never be sure if she doesn't accuse him of something because he later dumps her or she got second thoughts afterwards.

You know, in Sweden you have to fill out a form now (I'm not kidding) before you can legally sleep with a woman. Her consent has to be in writing. Yeah, I can already imagine a sultry night of seduction and romance in Stockholm..."Please sign here and here before you..." -- "Oh damn, that pen doesn't write, do you have another one...?"

But great show nonetheless!

Exactly, and I think the show really put the feminists back in their place, so kudos to the show for depicting the ravages of woke ideology.

It depicts a world where everyone is behaving like an ambulatory guillotine for those who do not think within the prescribed lines of the ideology.

It portrays woke idealogy as a binary, delatory totalitary ideology where people milk identity politics for personal advancement, where it is not really about morality but about stomping worse-than-thee for self-profiling (moral grandstanding) and self-advancement reasons. It depicts a binary, delatory ideology that does not believe in the ability of people to change and prefers to ostracize them and destroy their lives instead of giving them a chance to atone for their mistakes.
The show is meant to feel suffocating, because everyone is US society today suffers from a lack of genuine communication. Every interaction is so fake and only aiming at self-conservation instead of allowing room for self-fulfiment, genuine interactions and experiencing happy moments. The whole point of the show is to stir us to do better, become better, to really listen and aim to grow and coach people instead of trying to vociferously trying to destroy them. Humans are not binary, they have the capacity to make differentiated judgement calls about people. It is our responsibility to educate and grow others, we have to become better at the humanity in human. Diversity should not only know race, gender or sexual orientation, diversity is also in how we collectively resist the group pressure and defend our right to think for ourselves, outside of pre-made totalitarian judgement templates sold to us by the media. Be better, do better!

Well, the guy was a narcisstic asshole who thought everyone wanted to sleep with him. He didn't really even ask her if she was down to have sex..he just went for it and ignored her body language..she clearly wasn't comfortable, but he was too busy to notice.

However, usually when an important and wealthy man pays attention to nobodies and invited them to his room, the implication is clear and it usually only means one thing. Hannah was very naive to not have realized what he wanted.

I think she experienced the fight, flight or freeze that can occur during tramautic events..she froze. But then she did follow him to his bedroom willingly..she never made it clear she didn't want to have sex. Plus, she was worried about her job..if she said no, would he have fired her?

So how was he supposed to know she didn't want sex? I don't consider him a rapist, but I do consider him a pervert and someone who uses women. It was pretty shady of him to just assume she was there for sex. A lot of what he was doing was very shady and wrong, but I don't think he's a rapist.

Well, no, he wasn't that type of person. Like he said to Martin Short's character, "You are an actual predator." He was fully justified in making that distinction, IMO.

I don't think this guy is guilty of anything other than having a libido, and not being able to read other people's minds.

How was he a "pervert", btw?

Exactly there was nothing pervert about him. He had perfectly normal emotional response to other women who behaved normally, and only "failed" on the one woman who was more concerned about her professional career than her own sexual satisfaction.

I am a gay and I was once in a situation where my boss wanted to go with me into the jakuzzi of a hotel where we were for professional reasons. I quickly found an excuse not to go. I was then mentally assaulted and demeaned in my job by that boss whereas before that incident he had been complimentary of my work. This was true harrassment, someone who will not accept a no, will not back down or will exact revenge for denying them!

Mitch was nothing like that, it is our responsibility to put our own well being and preferences before our career! This is what I did. My ex boss is not with the firm anymore, and I am still there 20 years later. When there is an issue, it is your responsibility to speak out, seek HR help in a confidential manner. Considering the codes of business conducts in US corporations, it really isn't that hard to report harrassment!

Apart from this, we already have so much to worry about when trying to have sex (condom, etc.), adding a form to express content when in reality sex is about spontaneity and freedom. Signing consent actually feels pretty binding in terms of romantic commitment and it makes it very hard to enjoy the sex with any sense of trust. Internalized guilt on the part of men makes it hard for them to even consider touching someone intimately but on the other hand, you have to be mindful of the fact that in the seduction game, women (and submissive gay men) will actually prefer the male who doesn't act like a scared little boy unsure of whether he is allowed. They want confident men sure of themselves, but we are turning men into apologetic and insanely unexicting besties who end up in the friend zone unable to overcome their insecurities. This is not a viable model for healthy relationships.

Not familiar with this particular one, but yes, the definition of rape used to mean violent forced unwanted sex. Now it means willingly having sex for a part and regretting it decades later. Or even "he looked at me the wrong way". This Me Too hysteria is a total witch hunt.

I will admit that it may be difficult for some men to determine that this has happened - but it was certainly an unwanted sex, just without signs of physical resistance. From what I gather, that sort of thing can mentally fuck women up even more than if they did physically resist, because they blame themselves a lot more after the fact, than if they were to physically resist. In this case, she couldn't even say no.

Those brain freezes can create the illusion that it's consensual sex, when in reality it's not.
Having said that - since she didn't say no - and the dude was completely oblivious to her braindead state, I don't think I'd place him in the same category as a rapist. He had money, power and plenty of willing sexual partners. The power dynamics is what made this wrong - particularly given that he completely disregarded her the next day. If he didn't brush her off the next day the way he did, I suspect she wouldn't have been able to overcome it. Heck, when she didn't push on with her complaint and accepted a promotion, she showed herself once again how powerless she was in making her will known - thereby fucking herself over once more. When she said that she kept replaying these events every single day later on - I totally get it - her consciousness and subconsciousness were in a state of perpetual war.

She came across to me as really unstable. Her emotional issues weren't something he could have possibly known, nor was he a mind-reader about consent. I felt that he got a lot more demonization in this than he deserved.

She did have emotional issues - being alone in the city, no support - her family being fucked up.
The issue with Mitch is that he's done this type of thing many, many times before - to a point where Fred didn't even need Hannah to say anything, he already knew, since it happened to many times before. Basically, Mitch was personifying various male anchor figures who got metoo'd in the last decade - Matt Lauer, in particular - he also had the same door closing push button in his office.

Truth is.... there are different kinds of sexual predators out there. Those who use physical force - and those who use hierarchical power. One of the issues for those using hierarchical power is that there are indeed some women who actively seek promotion/benefit via sexual favors, so if you hold an influential office and you get approached a few times by those women, you might mistakenly begin to think that all women that approach you seek a promotion/benefit via sex, which is clearly not always the case.

So while the girl had emotional issues, Mitch had issues of his own. Difference being, her issues made it easy for her to be victimized, while his issues made it easy for him to injure people and be completely ignorant of what he's done thereafter.

This is an accurate description. Some women and gold-digging gay guys (who are essentially sociopaths) I have encountered are actually the ones controling the men for personal gain, they excel at manipulation and lies, and woke ideology gives those particular types extreme power to extort big amounts of money. But they don't even need to go that far.

However, even those gold-diggers have their own story, usually they were deprived from wealth by their parents, either denied love, or neglected, and they get their kick from people spending on them, whenever they manage to trick a victim into spending. It also activates their sexual desire in a way that is similar to a drug. So in a way, you could argue that some of them are susceptible to becoming aroused by manipulation, control and gain.

This is essentially the issue with woke ideology, it is too binary, and it takes very blunt, pre-judgement templates to treat very diverse situations, and usually comes up with the same judgement no matter the situation.

Instead of a totalitarian ideology that cancels people indiscriminately (not even for moral reason, it is often for moral grandstanding and self-advancement reasons), we should all become better and reading human situations, educating and helping people towards healing. It should not even be a valid human desire to wish to destroy someone else's life without knowing them for sure, otherwise we are no better than the agressors.
