Would cops REALLY... SPOILER ALERT

break into a house with guns drawn solely on the evidence of a little girl's dream? Sure she knew about the balloons, but that didn't necessarily have to have a supernatural explanation. The cops took her word about the dreams too easily.

she knew serious details so they thought something was up

It was the opposite of most movies where the cops dismiss everything. In this case they just believe everything.

You could argue that they were pretty desperate at that point, and she'd been right before. They might have considered a little illegal entry to be worth it.

Yup, they were desperate enough to ask for her help and they knew her dreams had some level of reliability to them. Solace does something similar, with police reaching out to a psychic for assistance.

The idea is kind of far out their, but considering the story in The Black Phone, with ghosts of the deceased speaking to Fin, Gwen’s psychic ability wasn’t too far of a stretch for me.

If all of these fantastical elements were dropped from the film it would have just been a mystery story in which Fin would have fallen victim just like all of those before him. It would have been a formulaic, distasteful, and boring film in my opinion.

Would cops really do this kind of thing? I think it is highly unlikely but, like others said, it made the movie more interesting as a result. I liked this movie.
