Only one even remotely frightening moment. Spoiler alert.

The only time I got a chill was when Finney sees the ghost of The Paperboy hanging suspended in the air.

The actual horror movies of the late 70s era that this was set in were far more frightening than any modern horror films I have seen.

It's a movie. I'm not ever frightened of any scene in any movie, no matter what period of superior filmery it may or may not come from.

Allow me to compliment you on your bravery!

I'm not talking about pee-your-pants terror like we would have felt watching horror as as small kids. I just mean that little creeping sensation down the spine when something really works to deliver the goods in a horror movie.

My nickname is Ole Stones of Stone. I ain't ascared a no ghosts!

Shit I'm frightened a lot of times, but this wasn't scary as much as suspenseful.

The movie is not meant to be a jump-scare horror, from what I can see of it.

I'd say this is more a supernatural thriller of SURVIVAL than anything else. A teenage boy is captured by a serial killer who has murdered others of the boy's age, and it's up to him to try to survive and escape. Little does he know, he has help from an unexpected source.

I didn't get a jump scare moment from the hanging paperboy scene. Jump scares are cheap cop-outs. This was more of a skin-crawling "this is really creepy" moment. Much like the woman in the tub in "The Shining". These moments are much better than jump scares and sadly don't come around often. I suppose I should be glad this contained at least one.
