Not really anything i can remember was taking away from the original story, and everything added was smart, and 100% complimentary.
I really really liked this short story collection, and movie. Rare for the movie to live up to the source, and then add stuff to enhance it for a different format . Terrific adaptation

shareI think it's easier to be really faithful when it's adapted from a short story. You can really enter all the details in there and even add some as complements, like you say. When adapting a full book, so many shortcuts have to be made. Otherwise the movie would last 10 hours or more.
Like the Queen's Gambit was initially talked to be a movie several years back. Finally when they came back with the project, they decided it would be better to make it a limited series instead. And it really payed off. It's A LOT like the book with minor differences that I really didn't mind at all.
That's probably why most movies that are adaptations fall short in comparison to the books.
