What happened to their mother?
Is it for the sequel?
shareThe father said that she killed herself because she couldn't handle her dreams and her visions. He said that they started to tell her to do bad things and she couldn't take it.
shareI remember that, yes. Some people just cannot handle their gift.
Thankfully the daughter could and she was able to help her brother.
shareSo it's not from Jesus?
shareOh I have no idea where it was from, that could never be conclusive.
shareYeah, one thing I didn't quite like about this movie is that there're too many random stuffs that were never explained.
What is her power and her mother's? Why the black phone? They say The Grabber also hears the phone rings but doesn't want to believe. Why and how? Who is he really? Is he related to the mother, because looks like the power is inherited / genetics? What's the meaning of the mask?
That's why I had the feeling it's for the sequel. It would be interesting to explore more of these.
This is what I got from the questions you have: Powers can never actually be explained. They were obviously hereditary, passed down from mother to daughter, but no one can explain how or why some people have ESP or visions or whatever type of special powers some people might have. Maybe it's from God, maybe it's an anomaly in the brain. I don't think anyone will ever know.
I think the children allowed The Grabber to hear the phone. I think it was their way of tormenting him for killing them. I do not think he was at all related to any of the boys he kidnapped.
I'm sure he wore a mask because 1) he was a real sicko and 2) he lived in the area and didn't want to be identified.
Not sure about a sequel as he's now dead. Maybe a prequel, the story leading up to how or why he's so deranged (maybe even from birth) and how he started grabbing young boys. That might be interesting.
I don't think the mask was just a mask. When Finn slapped the mask off he was like MY FACE! and tried so hard to cover his face using his hands.
This was in the basement when nobody else would ever see except Finn, but Finn had already seen his face when he kidnapped him, so it must means something else and not just simply not wanting to be identified.
A prequel could be interesting, but a sequel with Gwen now able to wield her dreaming power could also be interesting. Will she succumb to the dark side like her mother? And what will happen when she knows what really happened to her mother? I prefer a sequel than a prequel for a second installment. Or maybe a tv show.
We definitely have different ideas on the mask angle 🙂
shareThe kids on the phone mention other kids heard it ringing, but they couldn't talk to them. I'm guess it's the same with the grabber.
shareI mean, pretty much nothing in The Shining is explained lol.
