I wonder what went wrong: a review ("This is not the 1984 you are looking for") Part 7

The movie seems to favor the latter with mind-numbingly lack of nuance or tact. Perhaps its a mirror of our society's choices than of the filmmakers' perception of reality. Connie Nielsen playing Hippolyta emotes but doesnt speak...not a word! This too is a tragedy of the aborted script. After their wonderful performances in the original film, we are deprived of Antiope's wisdom, and Hippolyta's warmth and kindness in this one. That is truly regrettable.
The hauntingly beautiful meeting of WW with Steven for the first time is a revelation. It is beautifully filmed and surprisingly inventive in its execution. Whoever came up with that subtle restraint in explaining his appearance to WW, should have contributed more such inventive ideas to the rest of the movie. I wont spoil how it was done or why it works but its unexpected, refreshing, touching and beautiful and evokes (this time sincerely) a scene from the original film.
It would be unfair to rate this movie as I usually do on a 1-10 scale. It is a competent film made by a competent, yet ideologically deluded and financially endowed filmmaker. It is underwelming, underperforming with its underutilised (with regard to capacity and capability) cast and ultimately left me........unfulfilled (ok one more)...and unrequited!
