How did everyone love Blake in this?

I think that Blake had been a very versatile actress!

I mean, Gossip Girl, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and then the very unique, grand, "The Age of Adeline" from three years ago in 2015, the shark tale (or was that TAIL?) from 2016"The Shallows", and others thru this, "A Simple Favor", 2018!

A lot of us, including in showbiz and outside agree that she steps in the Grace Kelly tradition..a, pun, graceful (which Miss Kelley surely was in her roles with the great Bing Crosby and the others) looking, sounding, and in eveyr other way actrees and beauty!)

Anna Kendrick, not to slight her, is also wonderful ("The Accountant", "Up In the Air',"Twilight", in the part of Jessica which should endear her to haters of the franchise),"MIke and Dave Need wedding Dates", and this..

Maybe not in the graceful style that Blake Lovely (total pun there), a Graceful (there I go again) Kelley type, but more the just as well needed average girl type... But Blake really was different for a role outside the franchise of "Gossip Girl"..she was a hilarious bad girl!!

Until I read this thread you posted, I didn't realize I have never seen anything by Blake Lively. I know she was in Gossip Girl, despite never having watched it. I didn't expect her acting to be this amazing. "A Simple Favor" is all kinds of surprises and Blake Lively's acting definitely made the movie excellent.

In what way are you comparing Blake Lively to Grace Kelly? Grace's beauty was unmatched; Blake's, at least her facial beauty, is rather pedestrian. Not bad to look at, but not great. Probably a better body than Grace's, but then they never revealed flesh on film in Grace's day the way they do now.

Or could it be that you're referring to Grace's raging libido. She supposedly fucked every leading man she starred with, including much the older Bing Crosby, Clark Gable and Gary Cooper. I wonder if Blake is matching Grace in that category with her leading men. Love to see it.
