shareIt’s a mystery thriller/neo-noir/everything else film, so it can be but not quite in a cheap horror movie way. It has been widely compared to the work of Alfred Hitchcock. Any of his films in particular? Almost all of them!
The film is suspenseful, intense, romantic, unpredictable, thrilling, funny, offbeat, and tons of fun. It’s pure cinema.

I saw the trailer in the theater. It looked like one of those bad Lifetime/Hallmark thriller movies
shareIt was entertaining in a weird way, but not scary in the slightest. The tone was all over the place, like two jigsaw puzzle boxes mixed together. . It was like taking a drink and getting coffee when you thought you had Coke in the cup. You like both drinks, but it’s just...off.

OP, it's been about a year and just wondering if you have seen the movie.
It's not scary at all like The Conjuring or those kind of movies. BUT there was one jump scare in A Simple Favor that got me when Anna Kendrick discovers the shoes have been reorganized, and I think that was the only jump scare in the movie.
