The critics are terrified of criticizing Peele

Which is a shame since criticism would make this promising talent better. But critics are too busy kissing this guy's ass and saying how good he is when, frankly, he still hasn't reached his full potential ... and won't if critics keep treating him with kid gloves.

reply

the most overrated director since christopher nolan.

reply

Come on bonerman. TDKR is literally gods gifts to mankind.

reply

Lol

reply

All 3 of his Batman movies are overrated af. Especially TDR mainly because of Ledger's death.

reply

Uhm, Nolan is a genius.

reply

Peele should stop taking whatever he's taking and consider a career move.
Supermarket checkout clerk perhaps...?

This movie was intolerably banal and implausible. Simply an excuse for violence and unintelligent plot twists.

A senseless waste of human life, mainly the audience.

reply

Yeah that makes sense. He should quit even though the movie made over 12 times its budget at the box office. I'm not a huge fan of this movie but he's clearly a successful director.

reply

One time on YouTube, I made a comment about how I was disappointed with "Get Out" and people were responding with: "let me guess, you're a white man." I mean, yes I am, but does that mean you have to like it if you're black? I think critics are afraid to talk negatively about him to avoid being called racist.

reply

I’m a white man, I’ll say, black just don’t know how to direct or make decent films.

reply

I think there are a few good directors. Steve McQueen is probably the best one. F. Gary Gray and Antoine Fuqua are good for the most part.

reply

I agree on McQueen, a very good director
As far as Fuqua goes, he made Training Day which I loved until the last third of the movie after that he hasn’t done anything noteworthy

reply

That's because McQueen is British.

reply

What about Barry Jenkins?

reply

Needs to do more.

reply

Leeeroy Jenkins is better.

reply

And black will never get better if he’s only praised for being a certain color. It’s an issue all around.

reply

Generalizing something about any race makes you a racist by definition.

reply

Nah, don’t think so. I just don’t think black people direct good movies. In general.

reply

So that must make all of the people who participated in these sham awards racists, wouldn't you agree?

reply

I agree..
But if history bears repeating itself than likely he'll go through this phase where he can do no wrong into a phase where he can do no right.
It seems to happen with everyone...especially, in this case, when more diversity moves into the light. Which is happening at a very fast pace these days.

reply

Peele is legit a genius

And I base this solely on his comedy career. He's an extremely good comedy actor and very creative writer

I think his movies have been kind of "meh" so far, but not technically bad. Better than your average Horror movie

But I think he should do more comedy. He could definitely be the next Eddie Murphy, Jim Carrey, or Will Ferrell. I think more great comedians should try their hands at serious writing/directing, because I think making good comedy requires a lot of intelligence

reply

Steven Spielberg is a genius. Eastwood is a genius. Hitchcock was a genius. Na Hong-Jin is a genius. Kim Jee-Woon is a genius (sometimes). Peele is just some skilled director.

reply

Eastwood is not a genius. Some of his movies are downright embarrassing. Have you seen the acting in Gran Torino? I've genuinely seen better actor in school plays.

reply

I'm talking about him as a director.

Anyway, his acting in Gran Torino, while not being top notch, it's quite good. Embarrassing? no way.

reply

I didn't say his acting, the acting of the asian girl and the other kids. It was cringeworthy. They were first time actors and it shows. That's Eastwood's failings as a director as he didn't have to use them.

reply

Peele is not leading man material, he'll never be an Eddie Murphy or Jim Carrey.

reply

What a poorly qualified premise you have there.

A simple search on Rottentomatoes' review aggregate shows reviews of this film and some of them are highly critical of the film's shortcomings

Try harder next time

You wouldn't know they'd been highly critical from that 93 percent score.

reply

Maybe it's just cause the movie is very good, Did you ever think of that.

reply

Did you ever entertain the possibility that perhaps the critics are wrong and it isn't very good?
