Beavis & Butthead shows how to revive a 90s cult classic CORRECTLY

Very interesting article:

Beavis and Butt-Head Do MST3K Better Than MST3K

Interesting point: "The shows are almost the inverse of each other"

I think this comment is very telling. Notice how both shows dealt with 21st century political correctness immediately upon their return to the airwaves.

MST3K - We, the producers of the show, want to pre-emptively let EVERYONE know we are SO SO SORRY for having a robot character named "Gypsy" in the 90s! Even though the character had nothing whatsoever to do with actual real-life Gypsies, apparently the term is now considered offensive to some Romani people. We promise to NEVER EVER do that again! From now on, we're calling the character "G.P.C.", instead. Sorry again! Please forgive us!

B&B - Tenured University professor: You two have white privilege. Your daddies are probably going to get you jobs lined up on wall street! Beavis & Butthead: Really? Huh huh huh. Cool! THIS RULES! Let’s exercise our white privilege!

It's unfortunate that the revival became worried with PCness. One of the best things about MST3K is that it never shied away from Politically Incorrect humor. No one was safe. They made fun of everyone and everything. With that said, they still called out blatant racism/sexism every and now then (I don't see a problem with that anyways, as it's always very subtle). There are even times where I don't find certain quips tasteful or funny, but I'd rather have them do what they want instead of worrying about hurting people's feelings.

I wouldn't say the return went overboard with the PC comedy or anything. I still like it. Jonah is actually a likable, funny host that just has fun with it. I'm not a big of the robots, but they're passable. The segments are hit or miss, but that's the way they've always been. The show will never be as funny as it once was. That's just to be expected. Rifftrax feels more like the old stuff
