Is it really that?
I have never read the book.
Is this just a bad picture?
If you have never read the book. Never gave a shit about Netflix. Or Rolling Stone. Or the New York Times...
is it really that bad??

I didn't read the book and had no heard about it until I saw the adds for this movie.
I don't understand why Rolling Stones or the New York Times have to do with it, nor do I really understand why caring about Netflix would matter.
With that said, yes this movie is that bad.
Wow. This is a Ron Howard Picture.
He's an Academy Award winner. He's one of the biggest box office directors on the planet.
And I get Netflix for free.

"Wow. This is a Ron Howard Picture."
Most of Ron Howard's movies are lousy..
" And I get Netflix for free. Shouldn't I at least watch it for 15 minutes before I turn it off? Or is just that bad?"
It is that bad. It has no redeeming qualities The only reason I finished it is because of the pandemic so what else is there to do?

Yes it is that bad.
This movie is just fucking terrible.
I suspect taking elegant women like Close and Adams and trying to portray them as "hillbillies" was a bad idea from the start.
Maybe it would work as a stage play, I'm not sure, but I often prefer to see fresh faces when presented with challenging material, as with the neorealism of the post WW2 Italian film period.
Idk, the whole thing sounded like a bad idea from the git-go.
