dvd? Just straight dvd, no bluray no 4k?
What year is this, 1998?

reply

well the DVD was £10 and the blu was 15..you get all the extras/docs on the blu but i only care about that stuff if its a movie thats important to me (also i had a £5 discount voucher so ultimately it was either pay £5 or 10 for tenet)

reply

There are plenty of people still buying DVDs, bluray never squashed that market...

For me personally bluray is not really that much of an upgrade to DVDs (unless you have a giant TV maybe) and 4K resolution is off-putting to me for many movies, especially older ones.

reply

yes exactly - i shell out rarely for blu for stuff thats important to me (Star Trek/Wars, Indy, Alien, Terminator, Blade Runner etc) but other stuff i just dvd (even stuff like TDK trilogy, Joker etc) - and the dvds are upscaled slightly on a blu player so unless you sit right next to tv you dont notice the difference between dvd/blu

and 4k i would never bother with

I heard DVDs are still huge in the UK. If you check the Amazon charts, it's like Bluray never made it over there.

reply

UK must be stuck in the last century.
DVD is deader than a dodo. Who the hell doesn't own a HD tv nowadays?
Why would you buy anything in SD???

reply

I bought Ash vs Evil Dead series on DVD, because it was the only release here in scandinavia with subtitles. I guess there are still people who watch SD-material. I was a little suprised when I checked Amazon UK's best seller charts. DVDs sold constantly better than blu-rays.
