Why Get Angry Over the Oscars? I Don't Get It.

Hollywood and true American filmmaking ended with New Hollywood. Ever since then, the industry has been running on fumes, trying to convince itself and the filmgoing that it's still going strong. But it's not.

The Oscars is just another expression of the delusion that the industry is just as epic and strong as it was decades ago. In about a decade, there'll be no Hollywood or film industry. All the major chains are closing around the country and the world because people are preferring to rewatch classic movies on streaming than pay money for junk and arthouse wank that no one except arthouse snobs, Comic Book Guys and neckbeards want to see.

So, don't get angry over the wins. It doesn't make sense.

Humans are hard-wired to be angry when the world refuses to look and work the way they want it to.

I agree. I think some of us are saddened by the fact that we are witnessing the demise of great filmmaking. The more obvious this fact becomes, the more upset some people get. Oscars is just another symptom of the demise, hence the comments

"And the Oscar for "Most Virtue signaling from fans, producers, and committee voters" goes to... :D

I remember watching the Oscars as a kid. Then, the mid 90's came and we would just read the paper to see the results.

Since then, we just watch whatever we like and usually ignore award shows.
