bullshit - he had the means to stop being reborn, which is what he did to other infinites (the whole chip thing). The whole premise completely falls apart because of that alone, unless along with his sanity, his intelligence disappeared as well.
True, he had those soul sucking bullets, but they weren't actually dying. They were just stuck on a hard drive on a shelf somewhere. They wanted an actual death, which apparently meant destroy all life on earth.
They were provided a pretty decent sleep. Why not try getting his soul into that chip and send it flying towards the black hole? He'd have plenty of rest then. Point being, I can understand his initial urge to destroy the world, realizing that there was no escape, but when he got those bullets invented (which was recently done, wasn't it?) - that was his answer right there. Basically, the premise is as ridiculous as a villain wanting to rob a bank, then finding a flawless money printing machine and opting to rob a bank anyways.
but when he got those bullets invented (which was recently done, wasn't it?) - that was his answer right there.
Don't get me wrong, the movie premise was silly, but I can see why those bullets aren't a solution. The guy probably doesn't want to spend how ever many years with his soul trapped in a bullet. Besides, the moment that thing is either destroyed or just corrodes over time like any metal will, he will just reincarnate and have to go through this bullshit all over again.
Not saying I agree with the guy, but his twisted logic is sound.

Nah. The other posters are right; once you posit that you can put yourself in stasis, there are countless ways to preserve whatever media you put it on forever.
Of course, that's just the *start* of the ridiculousness; this movie took a halfway decent premise and proceeded to fail miserably. I get tired just thinking about listing the absurdities. . .
One for free: why not explore the concept of self? If you can really digitize yourself and store it, what happens if you make copies? Alter a copy, in creative ways? Etc, etc, etc. . .
That's not the issue. The bad guy repeatedly said he wants to end all life so he can see the face of god in the afterlife. How would locking yourself on some storage device accomplish that?
No WAY I'm gonna go back and watch this again to get the exact quote, but this is NOT why he wanted to end all life. He was unwilling to subject himself to reincarnation over and over again. He specifically described it as torture, explaining how he (more than the others) was immediately aware of his past lives, rather than gaining them gradually, with a big jump at puberty.
Nah. The more you think about it: Stupid concept, executed stupidly. To repeat: this is just the *tip* of the iceberg of problems w/this flick.
Major plot hole with Dethroner, stupid premise got stupider because of that.
Plus did you guys know having a metal plate in your head prevents ALL bullet damage? Doesn't matter that its attached to regular skull which would shatter under the pressure anyways.
